It was 4, at least in all the retellings I've heard of the story.  But the Melak-type is a perfect fit for that era.

Was there ever a Lost Series novel based on it at all?  I Dont think i've ever seen one.  Paramount should try and explain some of this.  I figure though, that the Enterprise wasnt destroyed, but captured.  Because there were prisioners and such.  But also, it explains why the Ambassador is no longer in production.  The Romulans may have learned too much and so Starfleet stopped making it.  Easier than upgrading.

Garrett simply said that there were four warbirds.  Whether or not there were survivors is up in the air and depends on if you believe Sela's story or not.

Well, they never showed her in DS9 or Nemesis, so really, there is no way to know if her story is true or not.

Take a look below the middle Warbird. That's where the fourth one USED to be...
It's a GREAT pic, BTW.

You are correct the 4th warbird was behind the Enterprise C!

As for survivors.... IIRC emember the TNG episode about Worf finding Romulans and Klingons living together in that colony. Remember the explaination for where Romulan Admiral Sela came from? That she is supposed to be Tasha Yar's daughter and that the Enterprise C hull is really somewhere on Romulus...

Nice render.

I've been in an alternate universe mode and in Centauri Vaughn's OP SCRIPT where the Ambassador is the Lexington class by WZ45 and the Klingon Base is the three-armed version from Klingon Academy. Naturally, I've kept WZ45's Melak in that mix, mwah ha ha!

Qapla!

I vote for an Excelsior show. Get George Takei to revise his Captain Sulu role.I'm sure Christian Slater could be talked into revising his role ( when was his last film right?),perhaps he is Sulu's number one? Man that would be cool.Wasn't Tuvok on that ship as well ?  Think of the cameo appearance opportunities. Chekov,Ohura,Scotty,Spock and dare I dream Kirk......

What I'd like to see in a new series?
« Reply #18 on: June 12, 2004, 12:16:59 pm »
It's my not-so-secret wish that the next Star Trek endeavour will, first and formeost, be a well writen story. As well well writen and well cast characters will be developed to make said story all the more deep and believeable. Then, and only then should any consideration should be given to what the ship looks like.

Babylon 5 took place in an unremarkable 5-mile tube, but people watched it for the characters and story. Firefly takes place in one of the ugliest ships in Sci-Fi, but people watch it for the characters and story. SG-1 doesn't even have a ship, so people definitely watch that for the characters and story.

And I'm still confounded as to why Star Trek hasn't taken this approach for nearly a decade. Trek seems to only be watched for the space battles now, and occasionally the cat-suited chicks. Nothing wrong with having a cool ship, a space-furball of hot lookin' girl in 'em, but Trek relies on superficial elements far too much nowadays. Of which is why Voyager and Enterprise really turned me off, nothing new, despite both situations being ripe for something fresh...

I'd have to agree on this one, and I actually think some more people would agree.  Space battles are always cool, but if you think about it, the last Trek movie to be praised was First Contact, and the only space battle was at the beginning for a short time, the rest was inside the ship.  As for Nemesis, the space battles were the best I have ever seen, but it lacked other things.

As for a show based on the Enterprise-C, think about the ending.  The final battle at Nirendra III.  The entire 7 years would have Captain Garret, but then in a flash the other guy is Captain, because Garret was killed by a Klingon attack in our space.  Unless the first hour of the show finale is a remake of "Yesterdays Enterprise" and the last hour is when they return to die in battle.

I think I read somewhere that before Enterprise, Sulu actually proposed a show to Paramount about the Excelsior, but they turned it down.  I met Sulu two weeks ago at a Sci-fi convention in Novi Michigan, he seemed capable of doing another show.  But i'm sure Paramount is kicking themselves for choosing Enterprise instead.

you met George Taki awsome dude ive met a couple of the main cast from TOS namely my favorite experiance was getting to meet the late Deforest Kelly and we spoke for an hour or so after the show (my freind organised the convention so i got to stay around after) talking about how the show infulenced him and how the show and his roles in his films influenced me and my before mentioned friend it was an extremly enlightening experiance i just there were more actors around like him who put their heart and soul into the part and really flesh out the roles.
Since Voyager, trek has kinda gone down hill (dont get me wrong i still watched the whole show and i still watch enterprise) but the people incharge of production have forgetten what star trek is and instead go for these jaw dropping effects (which i do like) and these women wearing little or nothing at all apart from paint (still no complaint) and really nice designed ships (enterprise been in my top 10 designs) but they have completly forgotten the story although enterprise has learnt a leason from voyager and thats why the whole of the third season had a fluid and well stuctured story (shame the actors didnt put 100% into it and the writers decided to turn the show in to TIME TREK that is probaly the only problem i have with enterprise (dont get me started on voyagers faults) but if the producers would listen to the fans and probaly hire some of us to make the damn shows and keep using the likes of LeVar and Dawson with Frakes doing some direction now and then we would really have a killer show or possably shows but thats the age old problem i only hope that SovereignEmpire's ideas take fruit and turn into something the fans can be proud of

Yup I agree too,  after voyager, ehhh, but i do still watch the shows, about the excelsior, I wish, that would be so nice to see, I grew up with TNG, and I love it, but the truth is Kirk, Sulu, TMP, it just feels better, to me that is, I love the design of the ships and uniforms, and the missions they went on felt good to watch , exciting, hand to hand combat, the dialog everything, one of my favorites is ST6 Undiscovered Country, I think thats it maybe, dont remember which number but you get maybe 20 minutes od space action bwtn the first attack on the Qonos, and the enbding with the BOP firing and the rest was either on a planet, on the ship, back on earth, i mean now it seems all they show is ships fighting, like if we're 12 year olds, I mean i like a good fight with photons and disruptors, but I also want a good story line, TMP is a perfect era to do a show, its a gap that really needs to be filled, "F" the pre tos crap, you messed it up, its done with you cant fix it right a way, start fresh, and maybe in time, youll figure something out, Star Trek Excelsior, sounds good to me lol
