The version I have is Mandrake 10.0, it came with the May issue of Linux Format magazine.  I gave up trying to make it work with windows on the same disk.  Anyway, if you've ever used a Macintosh running Mac OS X, you'd feel right at home, especially using the GNOME desktop environment.  However, if you're used to Windows, you'll notice Linux has some of those features as well, like the task bar at the bottom showing what's currently running, and the system monitor, which does nearly exactly what the Windows system monitor does.

I have yet to see if it'll run SFC

Let me know how you do, I've got Linux Mandrake 10.0 on a computer myself and am a little lost as to how to use it.

I'm not giving up, however.

Best of luck!

Have you tried Redhat?

If so, how do they compare?

I have dual booted my system with RedHat Linux 9, and it's extremely difficult to use  On the other hand, I'm extremely proficient in Mac OS X.

Bump.

Also, where can you download Mandrake?
Their site only gives links to buy it :s  But since it's Linux, and it's open source, there MUST be a way to download it for free legally...

AFAIK, you can get it off the website. You have to promise to join the Mandrake club afterwords though.

Or you can get it off eBay for about $3. This is what I did because I have a 28.8 connection. (Please no goggling)
