Topic: strange problem with sfc2 and OP

Got an urge to play these again so I reinstalled them and tried running the patchs. The patchs will get to the dos box then crash somthing pops into the box but I can't read it fast enough before the box closes. I've uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times and dled the ptaches from multiple sites. I'm convinced its more likely somthing wrong with my system but have no idea how to go about finding out what it is  . If anyone could help it'd  be great I really miss my old clc

Turn off your Antivirus perhaps?

  What patch are you trying to to install and DL.I would install them agian or possibly redownload them agian.When you reDL did you delete the game folder and said no to directx and gamespy.This what you have to do when you reDL the patches.I still not sure of your problem if you explain it in greater detail then we can help you and what windows are you operating on?This will help a great detail and telling us the exact problem.I am not quite understanding you it could be because toy are fustrated by it let the fustrations go before you post and take few deep breaths and don't bang your head over it.

I'm using window XP home, and yes my anti virus is shut off.  What happens is I luanch the patch and go through the motions till I get to the read me,when I close that the lil dos window comes up it flashes some text. I've only been able to read a couple words of it before the dos window closes. About 3 months ago I had OP installed and patched running fine, although it had abunch of mod files in it so I uninstalled it and deleted the remaining folders. Then today when I decided, seeing as sfc2 wouldn't work  I could reinstall op atleast cuase it was working recently, the patches for that did the exact same thing  close the read me dos window comes up program closes. no error messages pop up or anything.  

           I've tried deleteing the patches rebooting then downloading them again from different sites each time and they always do the same thing. I've no idea what I isntalled recently or waht got into my system to screw theses things up but I know they worked roughly 4 months ago or so. Oh and I can't restore my system to before these problems arose becuase I erased my restore points 3 weeks ago when I last defraged and cleaned up my hard drive. Go figure justt when I thought everything was fine and it'd be ok to get rid of the old restore points this happens lol

The only problems I have had with patching were to do with AV software. Can you confirm that you do have the correct patch going from the CD version 2.5.0.0 to the last version 2.5.5.2. It should be 19 MB in size.

It's  the right version 2500 - 2552.  My AV software is generally always disabled except for when i run a scan.

Have you tried running the unpatched game first to see if it might make a difference?
