old firewall prob. on new computer

im getting teh firewall message when i try to login to the d2......are there ports i have to open? im behind a linksys router and im running win xp, any help?

Do a search for Linksys router.

McCloud,

Since you are running XP what model of linksys router are you using. XP has a networking protocol called UPnP that is not installed by default.

 My Linksys BEFSR41 router is capable with the latest firmware of utilizing UPnP and DirectX 9 to handle all the port forwarding for my XP machine. My Win2k machine however is FUBAR'ed and must be manually configured.

the router is a linksys BEFSR41 Ver. 2         i hope thats right, its what was on the router so.............anyhelp? lol i miss sfc2!

Couple of links to old forums that should help with the Linksys. Also, make sure that XP firewall is disabled or similarly configured.
