Think the weather is weird? Try having a water cooled A/C system! I NEVER saw anything like this in my life! It is an A/C central system with fan and everything minus a condensor and compressor and R-22 refridgerant. What happens is it turns on when you flip the switch in house (no thermostat) and it has water pump inside with a float device to monitor the water level, the pump takes the water through the lines and sprays it on the permanent filters while the air gets sucked through.
I can't believe people buy this stuff! Let's get all the American powerhouse A/C manufacturers here and show these Mexicans what REAL A/C systems are and how much ENERGY can be saved as well! Not to mention the 5 yr and 10 year warranty on our babies!

I'm not angry about it or anything, it's just that I kinda freaked out when I saw the system, not to mention the Mexicans do NOT use insulation or double glassed windows in their houses. Americans could really make some money here with their know how and Mexican craftsmanship. I'll admit they do know how to build beautiful houses, primitive equipment in some ways, but the houses themselves are beautiful and last more than a lifetime.

I could go on and on about ways this place could be more efficient, and employ Americans and Mexicans alike, but that would be a very long thread indeed!

Well we just had the wetest May in history here. Something like 10 inches of rain. Seems to me thats what a desert gets in a year.

I used El Paso as a reference because it is very similar to the weather in C.C., Mexico. You were correct, El Paso is 8.81 inches a YEAR! Unfortunately, this year they have received half that amount and record highs, and the Rio Grande is pretty much dry after the river crosses the New Mexico/Texas border.

I did not know the Socorro mission was one of the oldest in the nation, I saw it when I checked out of the rehab clinic from hades and was walking to the city bus stop to get to the hotel by the airport in El Paso. Beautiful church and grounds, they are currently restoring it.

I also did not know that we had a dispute in the 60's over the border with Mexico when the Rio Grande changed course.

I lived in Mayport, FL and Pascagoula, MS when I was a navy brat, I know the humidity all too well, you can walk outside and immediately start sweating.

Chihuahua City at 4 p.m. (mountain) 99 frigging degrees!

El Paso at 4 p.m. (also mountain) 87 degrees? WTF? 3.5 hrs away (at speed limit, which I ignore) yet a 12 degree difference?

When I was in El Paso earlier in May they had 100 degrees one day, a record ever since the United States started keeping track of that stuff. It is forecasted to be a very hot summer for the Southwest indeed. Anybody else having unusual temp ranges lately?

We are on the opposite extreme with May being one of the coldest on record. The current temperature is 49 degrees with an East wind at 13 MPH right off of the lake, a rather typical Memorial Day weekend for us.

If you don't like the heat you are welcome to come up to Duluth. Today it is 46 degrees, wind NE 26 gusting to 33 MPH and it is raining.   When summer comes this year I hope it shows up on a weekend.
