Topic: What a lousy week !!

Well this week really turned out to be a sour one!  First off I had to trade vehicles.  My '91 Suburban was starting to fall apart.  We now have a 2000 Dodge Ram PU: 1/2T  S/B Ext Quad Cab 4Whl Drive.   The bad thing is all I could afford was one that had 100K on it.  At least we did manage to get an extended waranty with the deal ( along with new tires, shocks and breaks )  total tag was $10600.  YUK ...  I feel like I was robbed !!

On top of a week where we had almost 48 hours in by Thursday.... I had a old root canal go south ...  abcessed (sp) ... and another one next to it that needed work all flare up at the same time.  The one tooth was fixed ??  ( more on that in a sec ) .  The other is so bad that they set me up for a bi-opsy ( sp) next week.  Thinking that the first tooth was at least done with on a few  $$$  out of pocket ..  that seemed to be some minor consolation.  One of the corners of that tooth broke off yesterday while eating.  OY !!  What an absolutely lousy week !!

As for the Titan ...  here was my thinking.  I knew that time wise I was in trouble.  Though no one wanted to do IP stuff I ws hoping to try to spend some time on a server.  You all know I still on dial-up and how long it takes me to get anything DL'd.  It still takes time ...  time that is very hard for me to come by!  There are some other issues tha I don't need to discuss that simply stated once again affected the time issue.  

I knew that Azel could finish the Titan ... Sandman3-D is finishing the Texturing ...  but Azel has a lot more time and knowlege of such matters than I do.  I'm also aware that, in his opinion, there were issues that he would change ..... like the primary hull.  Then he posted the emergance of another Titan ... in his words to be more "canon".  (This is the one of the few places you will see me out spoken in disagreement with Azel.)  I like his work.  He is, without question, one of the best SCI-FI  Trek artits out there.  While I'm certain that there are some we've not seen..  they would have to be incrediblly gifted in order to be "better".  BUT....  as far as the current WIP of the SOA development teams concept of the Titan ...  it was as close to "canon Trek" as we could get it.  Attempting to debate as to why he wanted to develope more is not wise for any of us, either as a community or as individuals.  The last thing I want to create a rift for the community, or be at odds with some one who's work I admire.  That being said...  my thought was that since Azel prefered the different Primary hull ...  in order for him to feel comfortable with the completeion of the "Titan"...  that is why I said what I did ..  and stepped away.  The idea was to see it FINISHED ...  not  scrapped.  More than likely that was NOT one of my better decisions.  The intention might have been well placed ...  but just then same .. it sent a bad signal to everyone on at least 2 forum boards that I know of.  Talk about a dumb decision !!  OY !!

Time is still very scarse right now.  The next two weeks will be tough at best.  ( hopefully not as rough as this one !!)  If you guys can put up with a cranky old man who is only in and out for a few minutes ....  and forgive my totally ignorant debacal then we will be more than glad to pick up where we left off  and see this thing done !

I'll leave this matter in your capable hands.  It may be late this evening before I can get back on.  Let me know what you guys think. ...  (   hehehe  hmmm  on second thought ...  let me qualify that ..  let me know if ya think we clean this mess up and get back to business ..  even if it for just a few minutes a night !!)

well i was raised by 3 women so i reakon i can put up with a grumpy old man
and you do have every right to be grumpy layng out that much for some wheels OUCH hell those wheels best be making you breakfast and reading you a bed time story for that much cash .
anyway working on the titan or any other project you wanna do even if it is only 5 minutes a day is more on a honour   than not getting to work with you so just ask what you need and i shall try to provide

bud, i get you in a bad mood, but wait a second here.  i personally see nothing wrong with several titans, as it is the design is open for debate for 2  reasons

1.  There is no cannon version of the ship, either CGI or Schematics
2.  Paramount has yet to approve a cannon version of the titan

The way i see it there can be several versions of the titan, not just one singular idea.  Each version that has ever been put out has but one singular thing in common, they are all someones concept of how it should be designed.  being that his ship was desinged by atolm it should be easy to understand why he did it.  He likes to make concepts, and i would call him a visionary.  Each one of his ships is his vision of what a trek ship should look like.  If he is all of a sudden inspired like to draw another titan because another concept just hit his head does not mean he hated or disliked the first version nor does it mean that he felt this design was not cannon enough.  He simply got any idea and because he has the skills neccesary to bring it to life he put it down on paper.  

Instead of trying to defend atolm i should be asking you, why is it wrong to have more than one titan.  Would you have the same problem if i posted my (uncomplete) version of the titan?  The community is here to cultivate ideas, and these ideas  are not limited to one interpertation of anything.  It is why most people make the same version of a ship over and over and over again, not only to make it better, but because they have an interpitation of how it should be done and these interpitations vary from person to person.  

In conclusion  i would like to say that you shouldn't take this post as a insult to you but instead use it to help see why atolm made the second titan, and why he does things the way he does.

Hey Buzz, at least you have a vehicle...my wife and I haven't had a legal, working vehicle in 13 yrs....luckily we live within walking distance from work. Only good thing is, though I have emphyzema, all the walking keeps me relatively healthy...except of course my old, beat up knees.

In other words, it's ok to be a grumpy Gus, a grouchy Gertrude... Hell I'm pretty grumpy lately too...getting used to no booze in my system...Oh wow, just realized, today is my 2 month sobriety mark. Now I'm really grumpy.

So you see, we all have things affecting us in RL...we all have something in common too...our love of Trek and wanting to have fun with it.

OY ...  guys ..  I 'm not upset with Azel.  I might get green with envy with his talent some times .. but never up set.  The cannon thing was more than likely a missunderstanding an probably better off being left alone.  As for the cash spent on the truck...  hehehe  well...  I have to make payments ( same as anybody else.... ) but I think that the American auto industry is waaaaay out of stpe with the rest of the real world (waaaaaaaaaaayyy to expensive).

As for the rest ..  well...  yeah a bad stressful week at work ..  an more than likely  not enough rest (but still no excuse for being just plain dumb)

Sandman ...  you hang in there bud !!  We'll get this thing done one way or another. ( That is you if ya dont mind my hangin' around what little I can for the next few weeks)..

Hopefully in a couple of weeks this will all blow over and we can get back on our feet again.

I think it all comes down to priorities ...  time ... and time management.  I just spread my self a tad too thin!  My apologies to everyone !

100k on a 200 dodge ram? I got a 98 ranger and I only managed 70k. So the good news is it's probably  all highway miles so you might be safe, and you can always find one that was totaled and pull the engine and trans...a ram is worth it. 10k isn't  a bad price consider ya got tires and them are expensive on something that big.

hey thats not bad. 100k miles.  hell i have a 93 jimmy with _ r u guys ready for  this 145000.  now theres some miles. lol      but take ur time when ever u can come back.

The miles are not that bad old man is it a v8 they will run for every and the way they build them today it's just getting broke in.

Well,  I wouldn't trust any transmission from  a chrisler  product... Buy a ford ranger...ya can beat the daylights out of them and they'll keep right on going.

i like to be able to hear my engine and its gotta roar i mean all these new cars are quiet you dont know if they are broken or not :P
and also since im in the UK you dont see many hummers if any at all and i want one because they do look good
