Here is a thread that shows what games Ferrit and Alien have.
Along with what I've got.

It's nice having cable.  I've been on cable for about two months now, don't think I can ever go back.  Best part is my spouse and I don't have to fight over the phone anymore.  Just remember to disconnect the phone line from the modem.  That will prevent any dialer programs from taking over your system, although you shouldn't have a problem with that anyway.  You may also want to invest in a router like this one from NetGear to protect your 24/7 connection.  When you get the connection set up try downloading a huge file (100~150+mb).  That is the best part about it and it gives you an idea of just how fast the connection is.  Enjoy.

As for the Xbox comment, I think it all depends on what type of games you like to play.  I bought a Play station 2 for the kids, but I almost wish I had bought an Xbox instead.  All my friends have an Xbox now making me the odd one out, and I must admit Halo looks cool.  I may pick one up later on this year.  One thing I've noticed about PS2 it hiccups while playing DVD's.  I just finished watching 'The Lord of the rings' movie on my friends Xbox and didn't notice one hiccup on that machine.  The only fault I've found with the system is the extra large controllers, other than that it seems to be a solid system.  I can fault Microsoft for a lot of things, but their hardware isn't one of them.  Ironic that the biggest software company in the world does it's best work making hardware.    I just wish Microsoft was still making joysticks.

That's cause all they make is software...

Good point.  It is easy to forget that when you see the "Microsoft" name on the hardware.  But nonetheless when it comes to keyboards and mice the first name I look for is Microsoft (brand).  Although Logitech is getting a lot better, their joysticks are almost as good as the Microsoft joysticks.

Javora,
If you're looking for a GREAT joystick and throttle combo check out the Saitek X45. I've had it for a while now and I am completely satisfied with it. It's totally programmable, though its nice and easy to work with. Just plugs into a USB port on your machine (just one) and the throttle connects to the stick.  VERY nice.

Also, about being the loner with a PS2.  Your friends are disproportionate.  If you add all the gamecubes and XBoxes sold worldwide, you wouldn't total the number of PS2's sold worldwide. So don't worry.

WARP SPEED SCOTTY! Welcome to the 21st century Steve. I remember when we werew doing the internet speed tests, roadrunner in Austin was right on the edge of T1 speed, all for $40 a month! I really miss that service... Mexico needs to get it's head out of it's arse when it comes to cable service, is why I'm switching to TelMex high speed DSL.

Thanks Iceman for the information.  I looked at Saitek's equipment at Best Buy but those felt like they were going to break.  If I ever have to buy another joystick I'll have to take a closer look at them.  Of course being on the display for a while probably didn't help matters any.  I went with Logitech because the buttons felt like they were well made and the base are solid and heavy.  So I don't have to worry about tipping it over while playing.  Plus the layout on the Logitech was similar to the Microsoft joystick so I didn't have to readjust to the controls very much.  Like the Saitek, the Logitech buttons are totally programmable and use only one USB port.  The only problem I've had with it so far is that the hat switch won't allow me to see up and down while playing Mech 4.  Other than that everything has been smooth.  I have to build a system for the kids next year or so...  he he... who am I kidding, I'm going to build a system for myself in a year some time so I'll keep that information in mind.  Thanks again.

Sirgod, I resisted the change for a couple of years.  The main reason was that I was using a dial-up ISP (AT&T Worldnet) that for quite some time only charged me $14.99/mo.  I didn't feel like giving that up for these exorbitant cable fees I'm paying now.

Actually, it was my wife that forced the issue, though she barely uses the computer for anything but e-mail and then only occasionally.  I am the one who mainly benefits from it and no, now I won't change... the difference is too large to ever go back on, even if cable charges relatively, a lot.

Like you, I was amazed at how fast I could download at home... most often faster than T3s at work (even a dial-up isn't too bad when you're the only person using your computer for the most part!) because of all the goldbrickers shopping or chatting on the Internet when they should be earning their pay.

Incidentally, the straw that broke the cheapskate's back was AT&T's raising my precious $14.99/mo to a gigantic $17.99/mo.  Boy, my veins popped.  So, I said, "I'll show 'em- I'll shell out even more just to dog 'em!"
