OK, I've been gone for a while as some of you have noticed.  I'm not abandonning you all - you know I've got loads of stuff I'm working on for release, but there have been several problems over the past few weeks.

Firstly, as you may remember, I've been in the process of moving flat (I spent 2 weeks with some friends until I got the keys for my place in Prestwick) and I'm still in the process of settling in.

On top of this I still don't have a phoneline installed (not until tomorrow), and with that, I'll have to wait a minimum of another 7 working days to be upgraded to broadband...

But worse is yet to come - I've been having a few 'issues' with my PC again... One of the cooler fans malfunctioned and caused the motherboard to overheat which caused my computer to crash and corrupt the hard drives...  I've since had the motherboard and power supply replaced, however, I was working to restore the lost data from one of the drives when the PC crashed again last night (it looks like there's still a power supply issue) and corrupted the spare drive I was using as a temporary master...  I'm not sure how long it's going to be before I can get this sorted out again, so I'm even less sure about how soon it'll take for me to get back up and running with you all.  As you might imagine, I'm getting mightily frustrated here.

Fortunately the local library has free internet access so I can keep you all abreast of my progress.

Anyway, I'll catch you sometime.

PS - the stuff you've all been working on recently looks terrific, I'll be looking for a few downloads when I get back.  In the meantime, fly well.

Damn puters!! I wish you luck in fixing/saving what you can...I know it's a pain to lose all that data.

Outfits that sell subpar stuff ought to be blackballed by us, the customers.  And then those of us stupid/cheap enough to buy it ought to be made fun of here at the forums.  Of course, reasonable ignorance is excused.

I mean, what we have on most of our hard drives is valuable, if to no one else but the specific owner.  (In this forum, the modelers' HDs are valuable to us all!!)  Then again, there are such things as lightning strikes... had one near me a few days ago that actually blew a fuse on a control unit.  Fortunately, I've got a couple of those (inexpensive) MOV power strips and a UPS between the computer and house current.

yea, like having a worm or virus that cause problem with the com, i got a powerbar and when there lightning i turn the power off and if its a big storm (rarely) i unplug it from the wall just to be safe, for the mod i use cd to put them safe, (have to do it again so it will be update), but when should try to have a place where all the mod can be uploaded and place by user so if someone lose is hd he can go there and download all the mod he upload, i will see how i can do that, with another com as a server and unlimited upload and download i could do a place like that.

Update:

Computer still under repair - and no idea if the data can be fully recovered at this stage (AAAARGH!)

I'm back down in Dudley working again, then I'm off to Dundee, so I'm unlikely to be around for another 4 or 5 weeks.

Catch you all soon.

Don't worry, we'll still be around.   As far as the computer problems go, you have my sympathy.
