Topic: Patches for SFC Gold Edition

Been a while, wanted to check out me old copies of SFC and SFC2:Empires (I remember sevver issues, heh), and wondered, are there any sites where they might be available? I seem to have issues getting to Interplay... heck, for all I know they no longer exist in that form.. any help appreciated

Yes there is a patch for SFC 1 Gold Edition.. here are the instructions and the installer for the patch.

1) Uninstall Starfleet Command - Gold Edition using Windows Control panel Add\Remove Programs

2) Delete the C:\Program Files\14 East directory off your system

3) Reinstall Starfleet Command to the directory that your game CD  want to install to.. for Gold Edition, that directory by default will be C:\Program Files\14 East\Starfleet Command - Gold Edition

..... A) Do not install M-Player

..... B) Do not install the Direct X from the game disk.

4) Make sure that you are running Direct X 9.0b on your system. If you installed an earlier version of Direct X on top of Direct X 9.0b, it will corrupt Direct X 9.0b and will require you to reinstall Direct X 9.0b.

5) Make sure that your video Drivers are up to date from your Video Card manufacturer. Gerforce card drivers are at NVidia web site, Radeon drivers are at ATI web site, Intel integrated video card drivers are at the Intel web site.

6) Delete the shortcut to SFC off your system's desktop.

7) Download and install the Gold Edition patch from http://www.sfcx.org/downloads/mirrors/Pestalence/SFC_1.021_to_1.03_Patch.exe

8) Go into your C:\Program Files\14 East\

..... A) All Users, Rename the folder "Starfleet Command - Gold Edition" to "Starfleet Command"

..... B) XP Users, Go inside the newly named Starflet Command game folder, Right click on the "Starfleet.exe" game file, select "Properties", click on the "Compatibility" tab, put a check mark into "Disable Visual Themes", click OK

..... C) All Users, inside your Starfleet Command game folder, Right click the "Starfleet.exe", select "Copy" right click on an empty spot on your desktop and select "Paste Shortcut"

now you can enjoy Starfleet Command once again.

This installer is an installer I created to incorporate all the fixes from v1.03 to present, including the v1.03 patch, the updated sfbspc13.txt files released by Taldren after the 1.03 patch, the updated mission scripts (bug fix updates) released after the v1.03 patch, the Bonus CD Content for Starfleet Command, the Gamespy Arcade registry key fix (self installing), the SFC XP FIX for game not recognizing CD (CD will not be required for SFC game play), Registry tweaks to the Starfleet Command entries in your system registry for reduction of game lag on XP and in Multi-Player on Gamespy Arcade (Gamespy Arcade replaced M-Player for SFC game play as Gamespy Arcade bought out M-Player, though almost no one plays SFC 1 in Gamespy Arcade any more).

The game MUST remain in the directory listed above, otherwise you will experience severe lag in XP and Gamespy Arcade will not recognize Starfleet Command for Multi-Player matches.. If you do not want Starfleet Command in the above directory, you will need to edit your registry in 2 locations to reflect where your game install location is after patching.. make sure that your Directory and Path and Start In registry entries are correct and in the proper format.

Anyhow the file above is for Starfleet Command Gold Edition only.. out of box install v1.02.01 (1.021)

I will be making a posting concerning all out of box versions of Starfleet Command (Original) in the near future.

I created these installers 2 days ago and have tested them extensively on my system.

the file above is a total of 3.54 MB in size.
