So is this a freighter or a BC?
« on: May 21, 2004, 05:42:33 am »
I started out with a freighter in mind but this ship looks like it could take care of itself.  What do you guys think? I already have a BC released. So CA? freighter?  hmm......

I'm with Models Please. I think it would make a great carrier, or even a Hydran version of a space control ship.

Thanks guys. Its unamimous then. A carrier/SCS.  This means I can pump more polygons into it   . If it was a freighter I'd have to keep it lower since they travel in groups of six.

Now I don't know if this well be a light carrier or A DN one. Ugh.  I posted updated pics. It now has nacels.  If I go the DN route with it, I would be adding about 3000 more poligons worth of stuff. If it stays as a light carrier then its done except for fixing stuff. Wait, maybe I can do both classes in a similar theme. Taldren did it all the time

The last pic is the official Hydran heavy freighter. Note it has no nacels. I think I can get by by texturing them like there built into those side extensions. That would save on polies. Plus it might start looking to beefy. It is suppose to be cannon fodder after all. It kinda sux designing freighters.  You can't go all out with them, there suppose to be wimpy.

How about a "Strike Crusier"?  Basically a Crusier designed for one purpose/mission.  Has high strenght in one area, but weak in others compared too comparable cursiers.

Aye, although a new frieghter would be neat, that is too tough-looking to be a frieghter... strike cruiser, cool, or a SCS or Carrier...

I think this is the better design yet, this one is much cooler than the last ones (Hydrans), and they were cool too!!!

That's a warship! A freighter would not have all of that empty space inside the hull.

Add a few weapons and let her loose!

Thanks guys. I fogot, I meant to include you all in the read me. I'll get you in the next one. The ship is done. Its Hard pointed as a DN. Eventually there will be a lower poly CL hull version of this carrier as well. Be the 1st 1 on you block to have one. Link for d/l and final screenie below.

Enjoy!

 HMS Eclipse  H-PAL

Info on said ship.

The HMS Eclipse incorporates much of the technology used in the HMS Celerity. Based on the
success of the  Celerity in its light carrier role. It was decided to make a DN version
of it. The result is the HMS Eclipse, which initial tests prove to be a huge success.
The eclipse is capable of housing 8 shuttles or fighters. It comes from the shipyard with
most of its weapons facing forward. A wise captain well equip some weapons in its rear arcs.

Class: Dreadnought (DN)

Hydran designation: H-PAL
