Two new retextured models
« on: May 23, 2004, 06:59:02 pm »
Hi people... I thought to take some time to add a couple of retextured models to my website this evening.

For your pleasure I offer what I think to be the most useful of the two. Darkdrone, being the great resource that he is, ported this freighter from Bridge Commander for our use. At least that's what I think the read me states. I took the time to paste in some of the Taldren ISC textures to make it look like it might be an ISC freighter. Hopefuly it can find a home in your game as targets of opportunity for your freighter raiding assignments. Watch out for the occasional pesky Q-ship. They shoot back!

The next is another one of Lord Delekhan's models. The mesh is his Romulan Bloodwing destroyer and the textures are from Atrahasis's T-10 "Bright One". This is an earlier attempt on my part and I might have chosen textures that would have blended with this mesh better but it is what it is. This is what I used for the Skyhawk before Feral introduced his.

Same routine as before. This is my modest attempt to bring a little more visual fun to SFC. The shots are directly from OP so you have a good idea what they will really look like. I kept the original Read-Me's intact if you wish to do anything more with them. Now go blow something up!

Edit: Well, nuts... I had working links earlier but they have ceased to work... mmmm, go here  then....

From someone who has the F-NCA to his credit I take it very well, thank you very much. That little piece of work is incarnated in several of my Federation specifications. But thank you none the less, Wolfsglen. Very encouraging.

Fortunately I'm about at the point that I won't be crushed if no one cares for these. I just want to give a few friends a chance to enhance their model options if they see something they like. If so then it will be it's own reward.

I had the privilage to get my hands on the ISC version of this freighter long before it was posted here.  Rogue did a fantastic job.

The Romulan ship looks good too, but I thought Lord Delekhan had a policy of no retexture work? I think the new textures make it look better IMHO.

Thanks for the encouragement, guys. I'm sure some of you can identify with trying to take the opportunity to add a small something back to the game. I added the link to my site at the bottom as the download links have ceased to work. There will be new content added in a couple of days. I have offered up the ones I believe I've done the best on and are fairly uncommon.

-Terradyhne, I liked it! Humor is sometimes all too lacking on this board. People tend to get all too defensive and cranky about stuff. 'Tis good to be picked on when you know it isn't meant in a mean spirited way.

-Klingon Fanatic, thanks for all the help you have been over the past and youv'e done some fine retexturing of your own. I appreciate you raising the possibility that Lord Delekhan may not care to have his models modified. I will see what I can find out and if it proves to be true then I will pull them. I did not see his name mentioned in the generic permissions list as I thought I had remembered.

Does anyone know Lord Delekhan's wishes concerning his models? I havn't heard tell of him for a long time and suspect it will be difficult to track him down. If anyone knows please reply here. I'll honor the mans wishes whatever he might have to say about it.

Never mind. I found this at Starfleet Universe...

Lord Delekhan (lorddelekhan@ldrealms.org)
Website: Visit the Modder's Site
Policy: Restrictions are simple I do not want them altered in any way shape or form.

Sorry guys, My bad as I am obviously in violation and need to remove them. I'll fire off an email but till I have that OK then I should do as the man asks. Sorry that I cannot make them available. Perhaps I can post some of those models in their unmodified form. We will see...

Great job Rogue. That sux about the Bloodwing. I have the original and nowhere in the Read Me does it say anything like that. Bummer I would have loved to have your rendition. You know Thul11's Romulan texture would look pretty cool on this design as well. Maybe if ya shoot him an email and ask permission. Hey ya never know till ya ask right?

I think so. That means I had to pull the Bloodwing and the Condor. Gee, just trying to participate with sharing ones SFC goodies and get shot down. Well, maybe I should have been sure about permisions first. Still, I'm glad KF caused me to find out. At least I could leave the ISC freighter and I've a few others I'll be posting so until then...

I don't recall Lord Delekhan ever saying you couldn't post pics of your PERSONAL retextures of his models. I don't think he'd have a problem with them being distributed prvately, so long as  his readme was included AND that his models don't end up on a website or in a mod somewhere.

I think you did a great job there Rogue upping the quality of a good design by LD.

Thanks again for sharing these.

Now lets see some more  retextures....

You know Rogue, Manitoba has said he is great at building models just not texturing them. Perhaps you and he could get together and create a Bloodwing and the Condor. It's a suggestion. It seems a waste to let a great upgrade to a good model go to waste.Just my $.02

i thought i had seen somewhere they were at some site a couple yrs ago. maybe the were untouched, but that was awhile ago, before i lost my HD the first time, i was a collecting fool when i had cable. i had over 1200+ meshes now after the HD crash i down to around 800+ but that was awhile ago. i will see what i can do to come up with a mesh close to it. though there will be some differences. otherwise that would still be the same as stealling. I DONT GO THERE.

Just to be sure that you know those are available... they are. I just did it a little differently in respect to Lord Delekhan's instructions. Since his models are still up and available (eg. Starfleet Universe) it seemed reasonable to post the two models in their untouched, unmodified form. If you then look below those models you can get the file for the modified textures as shown in the snapshot. Walla... you now have both versions.

Somewhere in an unviewed SMTP server is a message waiting for LD to respond to. But this seems a reasonable way of honoring his wishes and being able to share the new textures for them. As you will find out, you will need both files for each model as I didn't include Lord Delekhan's .mod for either model in the new texture sets.  For the new texture set to work all ya gotta do is copy them into the folder for that model.  I would think that all concerned will be content with this arrangement. The link to my modest website is in my signature.
