Explanation:     In a recent thread that provided information that was already discussed I provided a link to two prior threads on the topic.   The intent was to provide the new poster with access to prior discussions.  One person (not the original poster) found this offensive.  So I would like to see what the forum members as a whole think.  Is it helpful or insulting to provide such links to prior versions of the thread.

Links to old threads yes or no?
Yes, its helpful
Neither, its neutral
No, its insulting
Who cares?
I blame J'inn

I think that most of the time the poster is not even aware of the old topic. So he's out on that one. But when posting links for informational purposes as in all other posts one should be clear as to why it is being done or else egos will be bruised. Brevity may be mistaken for ire in those circumstances. People post stuff I talked about earlier all the time. Sethan just did it. My posts in his thread were just playful jests not jumping on him for reposting info. And it brought something new to the table. I just wish people would be interested enough in the things I like talking about to post them more often. like the planet building thread or the comet one. I wonder if anyone has seen it yet. No one posted that they had... See?

I vote for the link and an explanation as to highlights missed inthe current post if possible. that makes the link relevant.
