Anybody here been to an MS seminar?
« on: May 17, 2004, 05:24:59 pm »
I have been sent a couple of emails for a "Connect to Microsoft" event where I can go to a free seminar. There are 3 of them in Dayton next month, an MSDN, TS2 and a TechNet. I chose the TS2 and the TechNet ones. I figured that siince they are free, I ought to get as much as possible from them.

Anyway, what should I expect from these? Are they interactive or will I just sit there for 4 hours each?

About two years ago I went to a Microsoft security seminar.  The instructor handed out a book but promptly ignored it.  It was difficult to stay awake during the four hour improvised presentation!

The book itself, though, was informative.

I went to the MS Office roll out. For my trouble and time I got MS Office 2003 Professional at no charge plus a few other nifty items like SQL2000 and Office Tools for Visual Studio .Net.

Now if I can just convince them that if they throw in 3DMax6 I'll gladly volunteer to redesign their logo for Longhorn.

Attend the thing, bro. There is always something new to learn and this is for free.

Best,
Jerry

The ones I am going to are talking about the Small Business Server, Virtual PC 2004, the new stuff in the upcoming SP-2 for XP, the ISA 2004 and some office stuff. It ought to be a pretty full day.

Dude...Virtual PC 2004?

One thing I AM interested in.

Tell me how the Mac version is coming along.  Do we have G5 support (FINALLY???)?  How about support for graphics cards (so a dual 2 ghz G5 with a Radeon 9800 Pro won't perform like a midrange PC with no graphics chip)?
