To tell you the truth, it doesn't do much for me. Kinda flimsy looking right now, especially the nacelle struts. But Iknow this is a VERY early WIP, so I don't want to pre-judge too much.

I was thinking the same thing...pylons are way too thin. In the goodness that was shown in the design process for the Titan,...Make the 2ndary a little larger, the pylons should be shorter and wider, they're thick enough, just need some more...the primary looks pretty good, just some tweaking. Definitely keep going with this, I can see a lot of potential.

Hey, guys, futuretech!

Maybe those pylons are some kind of submicron force field enhanced superalloy composite that resists futurephasers and m_____ pho... uh, quantums!

To me, skinny looks cool here.

Damn...I got beaten to the chase....
Looking good...I like the overall shape
but you need to go something to the basic design...I mean the 1701-M would be sometime in the late 27th to early 28th century...so you need to show change in design philosophy...as by then more races would have been intergrated into the Federation and Starfleet
Exploit that and you will have a tremendous design

Looks good!! I would offer to texture it, but my plates full with the Titan. Do you have PSP or PS? If so, I could send you a file with all the layers for a texture you could look at...makes it easier to figure out texturing. I'm still learning, but the most important thing I've learned is that layers are your best friend. And, the more you do, the easier it becomes.

It's not a tutorial, just a file from one of my models....the psp and ps files without the bmp's. But, give me a little while, and I'll come up with something...probably for a basic round saucer, but should give you the basics. I guess it really has been needed for some time...so I'll offer it at my site. Heh, who would have guessed...a tutorial from me!! But don't worry, I can give ya basic idea.

Looks great!!

I went and made a generic round saucer, minus bridge and sensor pod, then mapped the top, made a template, and did a basic texture job on it, taking screencaps the whole way. I should be able to have a tut made up in html and on my site in a few days. This will not include mapping, or applying, since it is different in max than in ms3d, so will focus on making the actual texture in PSP7. I figured there would be more people using PSP than PS...basically the same. I will make available for d/l the texture base, plus the "saucerized" layer that I did in PS, as I don't like the result of making triangular slices and arranging for the saucer. Kinda hard to explain what I did without the pics and such. Anyway, I'll be doing this in between work and working on the Titan, which should be ready for texturing soon.
