Libero is another name for a sweeper - ie a central defender who has no set marking duty and has the licence to roam forward and support the attack. Commonly used in a 352 formation (or 532) in German football, and I think some Italian teams use the concept also.

In other words, Sirgod is talking about real football. Btw, the last part of his post should read "centre forward".

Don't feel bad..my last Latin course was @ Canisius College in '74..and I was taking Greek too...but the trivia you can dredge up
