SFC OP Sounds Question
« on: May 13, 2004, 12:06:56 pm »
I noticed that the probe and the standard photon share the same wav, is there a way to seperate them so they each play there own wav ?

for instance this is how i'd like to have it:

HPtDisc=Heavy Photon Wav
PTDisc4=Probe Wav
PToDisc=Overloaded Photon Wav
PTDisc1=Standard Photon

i have the different wavs for each one but no matter what i do the probe and the standard photon play the same wav,mabe there is something i need to add to the sounds text? any help would be appreciated

Thanks,

I can understand wanting the probe sounds different and it kind of makes since how ever it is fired out of the photon torpedo tube IIRC.  So the sound of a probe would be similar to a photon.  However I would not like having different sounds with overloaded photons compared to regular photons.  That would be too much of a give away to your opponents.  Also SFC OP is past its patching cycle and I doubt that at this point even major bugs would be fixed let alone minor sound issues.

If he was able to change the sounds of the probes and photons, the only person who would hear it would be him.. in online play, models and sounds are only seen or heard by what is on the individual's computer.. s such, you can change out models and sounds all day long on your end, it will not effect what the opponent sees or hears.

as for changing sounds on your end, I would PM Chris Jones... he's the resident expert on making mods.

I think at range 8 it wouldn't matter if a overloaded photon had a different wav, so basically your saying its just a minor sound bug with no way (on my end) to work around it to get it to work.

What major bugs?

There is still one who can patch.. that is if Taldren would let him... actually 2 people, but I think one has had enough of doing OP code..

as for major bugs, and major meaning making OP unbalanced / unplayable, then please list them and the step by step in order to reproduce them.

Thanks

Pesty i.ve already changed them and all the weapon sounds, except for the issue with the probe and standard photon  playing the same wav and my self and my most of my fleet mates use the custom sounds and i know only players with the custom sounds will hear it..ok i'll make a post on Chris Jones's forum  see if he has a way around it ..

I never said there were any major bugs in OP thank you, I'll I said was that "I doubt that at this point even major bugs would be fixed...".  And I stand by that statement, as I do feel that if a major bug was found that it would not be fixed judging by what people at Taldren have posted in the past.  What makes you think that given what I wrote that there must be major bugs in OP in the first place?

Back to the topic at hand.  From what Phaser posted it sound like he was asking for a patch from Taldren to change the sounds.  Since that is not the case, then I see no reason why Phaser should not be able to change the sound file loaded in his machine.  Or something like that be added into something like the OP+ pack.

I must have mis interpreded you post.. my appologies.. however, if there is a major bug found, then I am sure, given if it is a show stopping bug, that David Ferrell or MagnumMan would probably want to fix it..

again, my appologies for mis interpreting your post...

people seem to be on edge these days... everyone needs to get themselves some good smokes and take deep drags until the hostilities go away...

Now where did Mary Jane go??? Hashville, TN??? So which airlines would you reefer me to use to go there??? Common bud, you can tell me.. Don't make me bong you... I want to go there as they say the grass is greener.. some say the weeds are tall.. but I want to go and seed it for myself.. common, put down the pipe and tell me how to get to that joint.. If I have to I'll go by Hydro.. common, tell me..

I'm just as much at fault as anyone as I should have explained myself a little better and you are right it is nothing to get worked up about.  My apologies.
