I was already to slam you for posting something OT here, but...

Really good article!  A must read on the lifespan of CDs and DVDs.

Thanks,

Dave

 It seems nothing lasts forever.

I suspected this, since some old data CDs I had seemed to have problems, and this articles confirms there is indeed problems with old CDs.

Well what did he expect?
He kept them in terribele conditions, with high temperatures.
And they were from 80s so CD was new then. And like all new things it wasnt good as it is today. He should be happy that only 15% was destroyed.
But what i find more desturbing is that sweat is like an acid to CD,if your hands are sweaty and you touch it it can burn right through.

So what exactly do you mean Fusili?  That the guy was just careless about his CD's and that this really isn't a big issue?

Yes,my fathers friends has his 80s CD-s in perfect working order,he just kept them in safe dry place. The guy was carless and now he is complaining.I mean the CD isnt indestructilbe, like all things it requires care.Did you ever read the warning on the back of the CD box.It says keep in dry place between (strict temperature). And out of sun light. He kept them in very high temeratures exceeding maximum tolerance and now he is complaining. It is his fault. If he did every thing the instructions said and still had broken CDs he would have the reason to complain.
