Sweet bell peppers, any color..garlic..salt, pepper, and if it's just me (when the wife's not home) a little hot sauce.

Beans and onions, depending on how good the beans are I might add something else in, but usually just beans and onions

Khalee,

In what is now part of Chinatown in lower Manhattan (it wasn't in those days) around the early decades of the last century,  there was a dive of a joint called Sloppy Joe's.  The sloppy Joe was apparently one of their main dishes.  At least this is what Grandpa told me; I don't know if he actually ate there himself, but he was in the small restaurant biz.

Anyhow, I'd prefer a burger with all sorts of sloppy stuff on it than a regular sloppy Joe.

This is the basic recipe my mom use to make:

1 lb lean ground beef
1 chopped onion
1 can Campbell's Chicken Gumbo
1 tsp. prepared mustard (optional)
2 tbsp. Catsup (optional)
Saute beef and onions, add other ingredients and heat to bubbling. Serve over buttered, toasted buns, open face style or sandwich style.

I would probably leave out the onions and all the optionals.  Very tasty.

Thanks,

Dave
