I know i read somewhere that they're keeping the droids you used, just like in the movies. Basically they thought it was kinda funny how the same droids ALWAYS come up, and that they could do it too.

Strike the female Sith part, one of the artists inadvertantly confirmed that the masked one above is indeed a male.  Damn, why couldn't the devs around here been as loose-lipped back in the day.

KotOR II Announced

I just received a word from LucasArts formally announcing the sequel to KotOR. Details were sketchy, aside from a name "Sith Lords". They did say the storyline involving Sith assassins hunting the PCs, and a Republic that's in turmoil five years after the events of the original KotOR (even though I broke up the Sith Academy, defeated the Sith fleet, did all sorts of errands and fricking handed them Darth Malak's head on a silver platter. Jeez, all that work and they still screwed up!)

KotOR is the one great single player RPG of the current generation of machines. Given some of the talent working on the sequel (it's being produced at Feargus Urquhart's Obsidian studio) I have no doubt that KotOR II will be a great game too. More information will be on LucasArts' web site later this week, and it'll be demoed at E3 later this month. KotOR II's scheduled for a February 2005 release, and will be simultaneously released on Xbox and PC.

As interesting as KOTOR 1 was, I don't consider it as a true RPG; more like RPG light, designed to sell to the masses rather than those who are truely into the genre.  For one thing, they place way too many limits on the creation and management of the PC, making the game almost like an FPS than an RPG.  While the first one was entertaining and I have high hopes for the sequel, I don't think that they should be considered as RPGs in the same vein as Neverwinter Nights or the Baldur's Gate series.

Yeah? Well I've been secretly commisioned to work on KotR III ! And I'm adding tactical warp, 3 missing character races, Starship modification and missing weapons like force webs and Push-Pull force beams, so there!

PS:  it is subtitled Galactic Knights at War.

Question...Is KOTR worth buying?

I'm bored with NWN (have had it since it came out) and am looking for another PC RPG.

KOTOR is definitely worth playing.  The conversations with a certain robot are just gut busting.

Unlike many games these days KOTOR has an excellent story.

I am prejudice in this reguard though since my Husband is one of the people working on it

Well Chris Avellone is doing a lot of the design - and Chris is the most talented creative designer I've ever worked with.

I expect great things.

First things first
1) Have him write me down for a beta tester!
2) KOTOR I is most DEFINITLY worth your $. i never thought it would be, but a friend convinced me it was worth it. Bioware really re-captured the fun and excitement of the Star Wars Universe. I'm sure Obsidian (Bioware Part Deux) can do the same!

There are two. Darth Wagner and Darth Verdi.

Um, if you want to remain on the good side of the guys at Obsidian I don't suggest you say that to them...
they are not a runner up for Bioware or a part 2. They are their own thing.

I apologize, i didn't mean anything to suggest they were in the shadow of Bioware.  I was merely trying to point out that some from Bioware had migrated to Obsidian. This is correct, yes?

You know, I bet that mask would be easy to duplicate for a Halloween costume.  Definitely a lot easier than Darth Revan's outfit from KOTOR 1.

Excellent. Knights of the Old Republic was the best Star Wars game ever. Especially excellent considering Bioware isn't doing it. After buying a number of their sequels, I am thoroughly convinced that Bioware sequels can do nothing but upset me. The fact that people here in the game business speak highly of the people developing KOTOR2 futher raises my spirits.

Perhaps. But Revan's outfit looks much better, from what I have so far seen, in my opinion.

And, uh, did you actually try to make a Darth Revan outfit?

Not correct, I don't know of a single person working at Obsidian that worked at Bioware. They really are their own thing. Obsidian is a really cool group of guys with some considerable talent but no affiliation with Bioware. I believe great things will come from this group.

Read about somebody trying it and giving up when they got to the chest armor.  This guy (or gal) looks a bit more sinister than Revan and even Malak, who frankly didn't look much like any Sith lord that we've seen before, at least until that one jaw-dropping scene of him in one of the latter cut scenes.
