« on: May 03, 2004, 03:36:33 pm »
I stoped by a local chain Store called Biglots, Looking to replace my lawn mower that was stolen last week.  anywho, No lawnmower, But here's the funny thing. I picked up some software, and The prices for them where Great.

MOO 3 ----$ 5.99
Total Annihilation ---$5.99
Starlancer --- $3.99

And the oldest game I bought ...
SSN (Tom Clancy) --- $7.99

I seriously don't think they new there Pricing very well to have SSN cheaper then MOO 3.

Oh well, I went to Home Depot and bouht a mower, and Pretended to have such a hard time putting It together, My wife called our Son Nathan (The Mechanic) and he'll come over after work to put It together , while I play a few old games.

LOL, My whole Life is like a bad Tim allen sketch when It comes to Fixing or putting together anything with Motors. I can barely Change the oil on a car, If some one want's to take the energy to use a cattle Prod, But I hate Working on Mechanical things, and My son Nathan Just loves to work like that, Get his hands dirrty, etc.

Now I don't mind building things, or landscaping. but then again Drywall dust is alot easier to wash off then motor oil/Grease, etc.

How did you get a lawn mower that required any assembly? I just bought a 398.00 self propelled 6 speed yard man and assumed It would be an hour or so until it was assembled. I planned to finish shopping and collect my mom while we waited. It turns out assembly consists of unfolding the handle and tightening it into place with thumb wheels and adding oil to it. I had to change plans check out rightthen push it and my cart to the car and page mom to the car because I could not put the top up on my convertable to secure my stuff. Then she had to go back in and check out. Assembly, eh?

Hehe, I was fine with the wheels , the handels, Heck even the Guard. It was this damn little cable that runs the length of the mower, to the Carb, that I could not figure out.  It has a little L shaped pin, that supposedly attaches, so as to stop the Engine If it should be released. The @$%&^# pin doesn't match up to anything I see in the picture or the Little lever.

BTW, It's a cheap lawnmower. About $129.00

Just a 3.5 Horsepower briggs and Straton engine. But you know how small my yard is Jerry. well, at least the front yard.

What I'm working on right now is getting Win Compatibility to work with two old Win95 games. SSN and Total annihilation.

Think that is bad Steve, try taking HOURS to put together a P/C desk. Very nice, but the only reason Leda bought it is because it says "Ledadesk." I was PISSED! Made in Taiwan and I cannot stand when pieces are not fitted precisely.

LOL, That's something I could do though. As long as It doesn't have more Moving parts then 2 Lazy susans, I can fix It, Mend It, Put It together etc. Heck I can even wire a new 220 line for my Dryer (This house didn't have one.) ,But when It comes to engines, Jack, You and other's have me beat hands down.

Then again there was the time I called Sethan about car trouble, and he was as clueless as me.

What I meant was most lawn mowers are basically preassembled. You seldom have to do more than fill it with oil and gas and unfold the handle and for the really mechanically  inept the store will do these things for you. Wow.  it sounds like you had to do a bit more than that. You must have took a bunch  of tours of the factory and pocketed all the parts over the last year. Now *Thats* really cheap!

You have no Idea. Do you remember those little wooden carts that we saw down there at the Fair? It just so happens They match the Wheels Perfectly for a Mower.

Just outta curiosity, I was wondering why you just didn't get one of those Murray's from Wal-Mart?  There about 100 bucks, have Briggs and Stratton motors and WM will assemble them for you.

I know that WM is like the anti-christ and everything, but they do have their uses.

actually I had planned too. But awhile back, Before My step son gave me there's, I had Heard about Home Depot, giving Soldiers families a thousand bucks each for home home repair, If they signed up fast enough. I believe the initial fund was around a million. So I had made up my mind to go ahead and Buy from them. In a way, It's only $20.00 differance, But It was the princible of the thing for me.

trust me , My wife and I went over It and Over It today about that. She's very pragmatic, and I'm very cheap, But I wanted to support a company that's supporting out troops. Right or wrong on the war, I will always Try and help those who help us here in the states.

I know alot of peeps will see this as a lame excuse, esp. with everything else going on, and Storm can attest, that I'm the cheapest man he ever met.    Hehe, He offered to help me Buy an Oil lamp the othe day for denise, but the cost was incredible. She did get a candle though... Her Pragmatisim asked, Why didn't you get me a lamp, I can use over and over ...

They new there pricing alright MOO 3 is a horrible game the best strategy in the game is to simply hit the next turn button over and over again and you will win, try to manage anything and youll end up losing.

I discovered that yesterday in My first game. I also noticed No Instructions at all, no tutorial etc. I haven't been to there site yet, to see what they have there, But IMHO MOO2 is a far superior game.

Try the MOO3 patch.

I haven't won a game since I patched the game. Now you have to build a fleet and build it fast or you'll get swamped by enemy fleets.
Diplomacy and a bunch of other things got fixed too.

The patch makes it a much better game now.
