Scan the patch thread didn't see any comment.
Was given a new mission type when I started a new Klingon single player campaign.

Anyone else see this? I think Taldren just put it in for fun.

Actually it is a mission added from the nerdlat mission pack released over a year ago.. nerdlat .. spell it backwards.. it was just included in the v531 build.

actually it was 3 missions, Monster, Surprise Reversed, and Casino.

all from the Nerdlat package.

hope that this helps

Yes it does. Thanks Pestalence

I didn't install that mission pack. It was new to me. Looking forward to the other missions.

Hi!

One of this missions (Monster or Surprise Reversed - don't remember) has a bug.
I can't see the tactical Info (PuckTI) of this "puck"-ship on my target display.
Maybe this bug only happens in the german version but it happens.

Thanks

Dang.. I knew i forgot something....

I'll look into seeing how to get that fixed in the easiest possible manner.. maybe a tiny installer.. but it would have to be word of mouth to spread it about...

So, we need a Monster folder. Do we also need some extra entries in the specs files????

Thanks,

Mariano

Ok, i was just checking the release notes from over a year ago on the Nerdlat (Taldren) mission scripts for SFC 3.

the Meta_Monster.scr, Meta_SurpriseR.scr, and Meta_Casino.scr never came with a model..

they were designed to work just by adding them into your Assets\Scripts folder and deleting the Allscripts.cache and Campaignscripts.cache files.

that was it.. apparantly SFC 3 had a model included that was never implimented until David made the Monster script.. and no one has complained about the monster script until now...

It works on stock game patched to v500 then to v531 on my end...  so, I don't think it is a model issue...

These extra missions don't work for me. Everytime I delete the two .cache files, they just pop up again!

the Cache files are suppose to pop back up.. those are what the game uses to find mission scripts.

when you delete them, then launch game...

the game will take all the *.scr files and load them into the Cache files for use when playing... as such the game automatically recreates them as they are necessary to play.

those 3 scripts are designed for Single Player Conquest campaigns or D3 use.

hope that this helps.

I don't understand....
If I'm supposed to delete the two files for the extra missions, how do I know they work if the two .cache files keep reappearing?

Ok.. once you delete the files and empty your recycle bin.. they are gone..

you can shut down your system, restart and check for the files.. they should still be gone..

when you launch the game, the game engine will scan your scripts in the scripts folder.

if you go into a Single Player Campaign or Dynaverse 3, it will automatically create a CampaignScripts.cache file that it will reference.. this file will now contain all scripts in the assets/scripts folder pertaining to campaigns..

also, when launching a skirmish game, the game engine will again scan the scripts folder and create the AllScripts.cache file in order to to use the scripts in single player skirmish or Gamespy Arcade...

to check to make sure the scripts are working is to launch a single player CONQUEST campaign, not the storyline campaign.. you will see in some hexes that your choice of mission will be Casino, in some you will get Monster, and others you will get Surprise Reversed... some hexes you will not see any of those 3 missions...

that is about the best that I can explain it.

SFC 3 requires the files in order to operate correctly, and it will recreate those files as needed if they are missing.

If you add scripts to SFC 3, the game will not recognize the scripts until you delete those files... the game will have to recreate the files so that it can recognize the added scripts.

Try a Conquest Campaign and look and see if those 3 scripts show up randomly...

Thanks.

That helps, thanks. But if I add new scripts, is it necessary for me to restart the computer after having deleted the two files?
Oh, and do those scripts work like the "scan"  mission in that I must have a lone ship in order to participate in the mission?
My version is also unpatched, if that matters.
