Heck no! I experiment each and every time I make that stuff.
Some of the things I like to toss in are: a bit of fresh crushed garlic for most any of the beef recipes (my house will forever be warded vs the undead
), a bit of Lemon juice is good for all the tuna helpers and some of the burger helpers, Sour cream esp. for the mexican varieties, cream cheese for any of the cheesy ones, Peas are good, whole corn for some of the burger (esp mexican), and tossing a few slices of cheese on top in the last minute or two is always a plus. If you like your food tangy, the season your burger while you brown it, hickory smoked salt, lemon pepper, whatever you like. Using patty sausage in place of the hamburger is good too.
...and yeah, they ask for too much water esp if you want a double batch.
