Future EAW servers
« on: February 28, 2003, 03:27:37 pm »
People have been asking so I thought I should post this/

There are, I believe, four servers in the works.

Day of the Eagle -   Contact Herr Burt

Slave Girls 3 - Contact Dizzy

GFL ISC Invasion - Contact Karnak

The Return of Dr. Strangelove - Contact Skull n Bones   (Tracey?  Dark Elf?  BBJ?)

I agree that it would be nice if these servers didn't step on each other as much as possible.

So discuss over some coffee folks.

I DENY ANY KNOWLEDGE ABOUT ANYTHING INVOLVING SERVERS!   snicker

Thank you.

Ack!! The Mirak media, once again, is the first to sniff out a story, hehe.

A D2 dyna shipwright convention is in the process of convening over future EAW servers.  The diplomatic channels have been bustling with activity and the InterStellar Concordium has just given permission for said convention to convene on Concordia.

Ok people, this is the plan...

The EAW schedule for the next few months:

Firstly, there will be no overlapping of servers, so Scipio, Karnak, myself and the rest of the team, and Dizzy and whoever else may wish to organise one as well (the more merrier... ;-),  we need to coordinate our timetable.

Karnak and Scipio need to discuss which of their servers will be ready first and decide between them, who goes first.
Initially, either one or both of these were going to fit well into the slot between AOTK and RDSL. Unfortunately, as real life doesnt always permit, not everything goes according to plan, however, we have been able to keep up a fun server (7.35 is getting quite a turnout), and keep the ball rolling.

Next will come RDSL, The Return of Dr Strangelove. Campaign design is all but complete, the campaign is using a combined shiplist as most of you know, but will be unique to this campaign only. The regular SFC2.net shiplist is being seriously overhauled at the moment, but wont be used in RDSL. The missions are.... almost done... <crosses fingers>

Following that, will be Dizzy's SG3 campaign he is designing, discussion and details for which (like you cant miss them... LOL!!), are on the SFC2.net forums.

So... what are we waiting for??? Well, its first to the post between Karnak and Scipio basically. They need to discuss this, and of course, if they could let me know as well, that would be great... LOL!! Its always an option to begin the countdown to beginning RDSL if either has problems, however, RDSL is going to be a major campaign and is likely to be up for quite awhile.

So... there you have it... ;-)

Tracey, you need to talk to Dizzy and get your plans straightened out cuz I am getting conflicting stories. Then let me know what's up.

In addition, I need to know RDSL earliest realistic start date.

Karnak, RDSL will start when DOE and the GFL Invasion server is completed. So its impossible to say, at this point in time when RDSL will start. Hence my above post. I have no idea really what Dizzy has in mind, or what he's been saying. As things stand in the greater order of things, RDSL was being organised before AOTK even started. Then, came along DOE and the GFL server which filled the gap between AOTK and RDSL nicely, and I'll take this opportunity to thank you for your efforts in organising the GFL server (looks like it will be a good one!!). Dizzy has not discussed with me at all anything about SG3, however, I would assume he would, like the rest of us, not want the unfortunate situation of having servers running concurrently and competing against each other.

By the way, I'm on MSN right now, so jump on and we can talk shop!

Really? I thought you had that all worked out in your preceding post. Didnt you just contradict Jinn and Karnak about the sequence of events?

SnB's (RDSL), Karnak (ISC-Invasion) and me(SG3) all got together and already worked it out. Thats why Jinn made that post.

Really? I guess you forgot you are a member of the SG3 Dev team. Forgot about the posts you made on the SG3 Develpoment  thread a day after it was opened. Heh, even SnB's was onboard the same time you were. You have been privy to everything that has been ongoing with SG3 from the very beginning, yet you didnt know " anything about SG3 "?

Actually the plan was to split the playerbase to get more ppl for the D3 and put the final bullet hole in D2.

Tracey, since everyone, including who we thought was running RDSL(Obviously it is you now), each gave feedback on when **** was starting... where do you get off taking the reins out of everyone elses hand, ursup the throne of the D2 Gods(didnt know it existed till now...) and tell everyone what to do?

Hell, no one knew about your skunk works stealth RDSL project... apparently not even skull, but thank you kindly for letting everyone know who is running the D2 now.

Oh, and btw, if its not too much trouble, I'm on GSA right now and would like a word with you, deleted every vestige and remains of MSN That is of course if you could spare a moment of your precious time for a brief audience with such a lowly D2 community servant such as myslef...

No. Its my job to set things striaght, always has been. Thats why i get so much **** from everyone because I am so blunt. Noone else goes against the grain.

Tracey, dont cop attitude with me either. I am simply saying you should have asked me and Karnak b4 contradicting Jinn and all of us on the sequence of servers. Thats all.

Its hard enough we spend our time and energy to bring to D2 a quality fun filled server. Everything that goes into it is exhausting. The last thing we need is the server hosting admins fighting over when a stupid release date is.

You want RDSL to launch in 'X' time, cool, I'm on board. THATS why you were given access to the SG3 Development team. So you could coordinate...

If anything gets sticky from this post on... Whatever...

WHAO WHAO WHAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Major miscommunication going on here.    I just listed the four servers in the order they popped into my head.   Not in any specific order.

The purpose of the post was to get all four teams talkign together because I got the idea people were not all working from the same play book.

And I agree,  some sense of order would be a good thing.

Dizzy... lighten up... there ARE no set release dates. If SG3 is the first campaign ready to go, then thats the one we'll go with. How long will it be before its ready?

Dizzy, the situation is under control.

On behalf of the ISC gov't., welcome to the first ever D2 Dyna shipwright conference.

I do very much  hope that the complimentary Orion Slave girls I picked out for you are to your satisfaction.  Don't hesitate to ask for new ones  if you are not happy with my selections.

I do believe you have met TraceyG before in the CIC before so I will dispense with introductions for the SFC2.net rep.  The picket ships are still anxiously awaiting the arrival S'Cipio from Gorn space and I will indeed let you know the first minute that I know he will arrive.  Although, I have heard he having trouble drying out some flooded areas of his home and such. Did you know it snows on G'dhar. Now, would you fancy that? :O

Now, to business:

It would be most helpful if we could get an idea on when you think SG3 can realistically fire up for a beta test. Just send me or TraceyG a PM and CC S'Cipio while you are at it. Once we get an idea of where exactly each of the 4 dynas are at develoment wise then we should be able to make a well-informed decision on dyna scheduling.  As TraceyG said for SFC2.net, the GFL is also fully committed to having no dyna traffic jams.  Something about getting stressed out and stuff.

Oh, please excuse the fried Kzin you saw at the door when you came in. The guards are a little jumpy today. I'll have to talk to the maid about that.

Well, since DOE is the only server with no confusion... ::applause for DOE:: I take my hat off to herrburt!

And Tracey, thanks for comming back to your senses... Saying whatever... quite totally out of character for you. I always imagined you in your skimpy leather outfit, whip, high heels...

As for the start dates... lets blame this all on Jinn for starting this thread and lets discuss the servers.

Right now, its possible SG can launch in 3x weeks or whenever DOE has concluded. There are things I am discussing with Karnak about it right now. In the mean time, how bout jump aboard this run away train and help us figure it out. I'll be on a lil later tonight. We need to share server notes.

And NP to that misunderstanding... seems only warsears took me seriously

Hi everyone:

I have received a message from Karnak, and have replied.  (Karnak, you've got mail!)  I think it's cool that kittie, the lady, and the little frog want no overlap, and I agree.  We'll try and space these out so as to maximize the fun for everyone.

Happy Warmongering!

The D2 dyna shipwright conference on Concordia  is over and we have a schedule worked out.

TraceyG will be posting more details in another thread.

BTW, it was a hotly debated issue, but we finally decided to let J'inn out of the downtown Concordia City pokie now that the conference is over.

The Korlivilarian guards were complaining about his incessant "But I'm innocent...truly I am...I am so innocent it hurts!!" pleas in that oh so whiny voice of his....
