Yes people I can confirm that as of today (29th April 2004) my website is finally open... That's the good news... The bad news is there's not a lot new on it.  I haven't done much modelling of late but what I've so far is there for all to see now... To quote my very own News page I have the following available......

U.S.S. Standridge - Mark II Chandley class Heavy Frigate

U.S.S. Pournelle - Mark II Chandley class Heavy Frigate (ooh, a new one!!!!!)

U.S.S. Blackhawk - Mark II Chandley class Heavy Frigate

U.S.S. Chehalis - Mark II Chehalis class Heavy Frigate with Tacpod

U.S.S. Francis X. Hummel - Mark II Chehalis class Heavy Frigate with Tacpod

U.S.S. De Forest Kelley - Mark I Kelley class Hospital Ship

and

Mark IV Valkyrie class Fighter

Now, these are all available for download as I speak and for those interested the site address is........

You can link here.....

As per usual, all feedback is appreciated, there's a lot been happening of late (Atra and Taldren falling out, fires and the return of P81) but it's always nice to know if I'm hitting the mark.....

Excellent looking site. I like that you've taken the time to provide breif histories for the ships on your site. A nice touch.

nice site and good layout, though for the entrance page, i think  the entrance link should be the whole pic instead of just the chandley.

Not bad.  Chandley-class Ships, especially Kalibanized like you did, are beautiful.  But I'm starting to believe Khaliban a bit on the physics involved on this type of ship... But at least it looks cool as eyecandy. However I wouldn't want to command a Chandley, I'm sticking with the Constitution-class refit or Excelsior, the originals and best.

But again, you do some good work!  I'm not downplaying it one bit, they're beauties at the very least!

Love your site, definitely going to be on my links page.  I have a question I have bbeen meaning to ask.  You have 3 versions of you ships, the 2048, 1024 and the 1024 with 8-bit palette waht is the difference beetween the last two?

Awesome site. All the ships and pics are there like every site should have them along with a description of each ship and our choice of texture sizes. Do we get a choice of custom colors for the interrior? Its very well laid out for the model junkie. Other sites should take notice.

Oh, and Chris, that Chandley would whoop Connie ass any day of the week.

Thank you all for the positive comments... Greatly appreciated...

To clarify this one you need to look at how big the model is complete with it's textures as it is this that your graphics card throws around when you're playing the game.....

The 2048 versions typically weigh in at a whopping 41.3 meg on average which can put quite a strain on some graphics cards... Dropping this down to 1024 (and it's only TWO bitmaps we're talking about - Fca_1_5 and Fca_1_5i) reduces the model down to 23.2 meg... A big reduction... Using a 8bit (256 colour) pallete instead of a 24bit one reduces this even further, down to 9.3 meg. Your hardworking graphics card still has to throw the ship geometry around as that doesn't change but using smaller size bitmaps and lower colour depth will help.....

To give you an idea on my old machine, which was a little limited spec-wise, I converted my entire ship folder to an 8 bit pallete and got the game to run a lot smoother... My new PC doesn't have the same limitations but I'm mindfull of the fact that not everyone out there has bought a new PC in the last six months, hence the three different versions.....

Hope that helps....... DC

Well, you have to bumo a few times to keep it on the 1st two pages for about a week or two so everyone who visits the forums occasionly will spot it.

Then as usual... it fades off into obscurity only to get bumped up after a cpl months and repeats, etc...

I say go for it. You can never have enough interesting designs or kitbashes around to play with.
would be a nice Battle cruiser or  light battleship.

I would like it better if the upper warp engines were supported by pylons and attached to the saucer rather than the 'wings' Tactically then you could have a saucer seperation that would make sense. Also I'd like to see the secondary hull compressed more into the Chandley hull. The deflector dish would then be more 'D' shaped like the USS Voyager [TNG Intrepid class] which would look snazier IMHO.

Good job overall thanks for sharing this with us.

DC that "Chandley-prise"is a pretty cool Idea.I have an idea for a carrier based on a similar line.Use the seconday hull from the "through deck cruiser",the one with the shuttle bay on the front and the back, and attach it the same way you did the Enterprise secondary hull.I think it would be good with or without the extra warp engines on top.

I think it looks cool, different, but cool.  One thing I would suggest is using Khalibans Enterprise.  It would keep uniformity among all the Chandleys.

Loose the connie stuff please.Chandley-prise ????   Please the beauty of the Chandley is it's "UNIQUENESS". Don't turn her into a connie hybrid. You already have 2 designs with "pod" attachments sir. I would suggest starting from there and modify the pod as you need to get the desired affect. If you want to add a narcelle(s) may I suggest this option....

[]------[]------[]     a Third narcelle suspended between the other 2 across the bottom. Utilizing a rollbar configuration like this opens up the door for other options such as ........

[]--o--[]--o--[]    narcelle/weapon pod/narcelle/weapon pod/narcelle . Now you would have more dreadnaught  like weaponry

or

Add a Connie neck to the top of the saucer, just behind the bridge ,turn it upside down so the torpedo tubes are at the top and add narcelles in a " T " pattern like this   []--o--[]

And as for the pod...... try attaching it to the saucer in this configuration  pic utilize the "neck" for the torp tubes, and add the pod in place of the secondary hull and texure as need,ie hanger bays or whatever.I don't know if it even needs the pod/secondary hull, since your Chandley's already have 2 large hanger bays.If you want her to have a deflector and sensor arrays try this  deflector and sensors on lower saucer  The ship this way cannot be misconscrued as EVER being anything but a Chandley varient. And you would also have created a ship like no ther ever seen in the game. No connies allowed in this case please. MY humble $.02 suggestion sir.

-MP

I also noticed on your site The DeForest Kelley is a Miranda. Are you going to redo the texture on your Chandley version of the Kelley and re-release it as well sir as the MK II Kelley Class?
