well it's been a good 9 months since my last MMORPG.
And even longer beta testing any games. last game i beta'd ShadowBane.

EVE online(the last game i played).. i gave it up cause it was boring.

Now waiting all this time for a new game has me hurting. not because i cant play.. it's because they wont let me.

Beta's Beta's beta's.. all kinds of beta's.. and then there are no beta's.

Good tip..

DO not sign up for more than 2 beta's

because with the requirements they have to get into beta.. you'll end up eating dirt while waiting.

Out of the 8 or so games i listed in another post..
1 game was pushed back to 2005. (D&D online)

Everything else.. well lets see.
If you go visit thier websites, you'll notice all of them talking about beta's.
except 1 Pirates of the Burning Sea.
Something disturbs me about that. Flying Lab Software released a video in Quicktime format.. in that video.. release date was SPring 2004.
April 21st.. 2 months left of spring. not a word of beta from Flying lab. nothing zip ziltch.. notta. Instead they keep giving endless Dev logs to read about the game.. and how much fun it is to play it.
Tease More Flying lab.. and your game becomes vaporware to me.

DArkfall online... never actually gave a release date.. instead they keep saying.."we will release the game when it's finished|" ahh ok i can deal with that.
2 months ago they asked for all the fans to update thier emails and profiles.. so they can begin registrations.
Seems they forgot to register the fans.
or at least it seems that way..
I will mention i saw a drop in board activity lately.. which could mean 2 things. either people have stopped hoping for the game.. or they secretly let people into a closed beta.

Ultima X well there a great canidate for vaporware.
they haven't updated thier website since 2003.
"and thats all i have to say about that"

Middle earth online uhhmmm what can i say about that.. nothing.. cause it says release is Late 2004. but yet still nothing browsing the news, about the game whatso ever.

Warhammer Online  slipping deeper and deeper into a grave. where's all the intrest in this game. did it fall away with the release of Horizons and Lineage 2 beta?
lets hope not.

Speaking of Horizons
I see mass amounts of game play in this game.. but it disturbs me, dearly. All those players.. just hacking away at thiers computers.. for nothing but Levels.. and trying to be the highest leveled Character.
Whats the point in being a high level character if you cant kill anyone?
but yet they all sit in the game pasing the time away for $15 a month. to play against a computer.
Any Psychology majors want to help them out?

And as for Lineage 2, well i see masses and masses playing that too. i never signed up for beta on this one.. but from the screenshots and reviews of the recently played game.. it looks alot like lineage 1 with revamped graphics.
should be a big hit overseas agian.

Dragon Empires, I game i should have gotten into beta.. but alias! i didn't spend enough time in the community asking questions that been asked 100 hundred times before. Instead i choose to spend insane amounts of time playing other games and having fun somewhere else.
well i'm sure not going out to pre order a game, i didn't get to help build, or change in some way. I'll wait til hell freezes over.. or a friend invites me to play with him/her.

City of Heroes, again.. i spent too much time playing other games and having fun with friends.. too spend time on the boards asking silly questions about the game, that someone else already asked, and someone answered.
And since the NDA has been lifted.. all i see are great comments of How much it will be like playing the Endless treadmill of Leveling against the computer.
thats sad for a game which had so much potential. And yet you'll see the Masses swarm to beat up thier own computers.

My last chances for a beta test.. is Darkfall (if it doesn't hit Vapor) and Pirates of the Buring Sea (i game that has quality to break the mold of MMORPG's)
As it looks like i'll be spending more time with the people i enjoy playing games with.

yes this was a Rant. somethnig i needed to get out into the open.
because right now.. i'm not to happy with the MMORPg Creators.
It seems they only want the Fanboys playing thier games now. and leaving everyone else out of the loops.

all that mining is boring.. the use of warp in the game kills the game play.

not to mention all the regions that are abandoned.

PvP is a joke.. as to the style of click and see combat.

maybe the  updates have made the game better.. i dont know.

but when i was playing it.. it got really old quick.

I'm not sure about COH, as I loved Freedom force and was a Big member along time ago of the forums there before It went down.So far the game looks pretty good If your into that kinda thing, But Of course there is another FF game coming out.

still I know that IOGC has been testing It, and I look forward to Playing the game in the next few days.

I got to play open beta of City of Heroes for two nights and it was neat.  I'm not sure I saw enough of it though.  What I saw was very repetitive but I didn't get that far before they shut down the servers tonight.

The mining isnt the only thing you can do.

The combat is much like a 3D SFC, as in you trade hits trying to get the other guy down first.

The in system warp is only because ppl hate slow games.

There are no abandoned systems, only the Final Frontier...

It's all perspective

Warhammer Online is alive and well. I have a friend who works at the corp. office and I asked him and he told me they are still working on it.

I beta'd lineage 2 and I will tell you IT SUCKS. Dark Elves run Anime style. Female dwarves look like anime chicks, its boring. No style. Two classes, Fighter and mage. Character's cant be custom either. like 4 hair choices, 2 faces, 2 hair colors and no body options, unless of course they are holding that back for the release but why?

I also beta'd City of Hero's and I must say it lacks depth. The only good things about it are the character generation when it comes to uniforms. Power generation is rather basic. In fact, if it were not for the graphics engine, costume generation and the final days alien invasion I would have to say that CoH is a first generation MMPG. It lacks so many things and wacking AI is about as much fun to me as wacking my pud with sandpaper.

They announced recently that it is being pushed back to sometime 2005, due to underestimating the content needed for such a game.

Q4= fiscal year quarter 4 (october to december)
