More super hero movies on the way
« on: April 26, 2004, 11:29:34 pm »
Scripts are being worked on for iron man, fantastic four and submariner. I am interested in what the submariner is going to be like. I've seen a publicity group photo for the FF and I'm not impressed with Mr Fantastic, sue or Johnny storm.

Ghost Rider looks pretty cool. Oh< I forgot to mention Iron Fist as well. Comic Nerd Heaven!

EDIT:  I just noticed something else. The Black Widow is mentioned in the marvel copyright blurb at the bottom of the article but not in the text. What could that mean? Hmmmm?

They're making a Black Widow and Black Panther movie as well. My gf's father has big stock in marvel, apparently so he got a newsletter detailing the movies they're working on. Hulk 2 was in there, sadly.  I'll have to track down that paper this weekend and let you know. There were like 10 movies on it!

Cool that's why they mentioned black widow in the copyright blurb of the article even if it was edited out of the text or just dropped. Outstanding.

They may be messing up Watchmen.  This will be a VERY hard movie to do the comic (excuse me, 'graphic novel') justice and already one director/producer has left the project because of creative differences, saying that he wanted to be more true to the source material.  To me, that's a big red flag.   Watchmen was such an excellent story.

I am geeked for the Fantastic Four because they were my favorite.  It will be hard to do Reed Richards in a way that does not look dorky, so I hope they do it well.  He will be walking a fine line between looking cool or looking laughable.

Iron Man is perfect for a movie; they could hardly mess it up.   OK, they can mess anything up, but if they even make a halfway attempt, it's just the perfect superhero for type for the big screen.

Don't forget that Neo (er, Keanu Reeves) is playing John Constantine from the Hellraiser comics, they use the characters name for the movie,  instead of the comics name,  to avoid confusion with the established movie franchise.    I never read these but I've had friends who loved them.

Still waiting for the Wild Cards movie!
