    It is easy not in so many ways though all you do to take a cube out is target thier core if you are near a sun get as close a possiple and reinforce the shield facing the sun the borg have noe shield.This is the same with cloaked ships aswell.The best way to  take out or capture a cloaked ship is target the cloaking device.I hope this what you are all talking about here.I would not say the Sovereign is to over powered and it is slow at impulse speeds.In sp in skirmish mode it took me with an Akira with 2 Q. luanchers FA and 3 type 11F phasers 2 FA and 1 ALL I had a legendary tactical officer.It took me over an hour and forty minutes to take the cube out and my Akira could do up to 39 at full impulse with .98 in manerverabilty.I was able to use a cube totake out 2 sovereigns plus vorcha and three warbirds .I would say no way is a sovereign over powered.

 I don't think they are over powered  seeing as i have taken them down with a Kitinga myself.
 It pays to invest in good and intelligent Officers early on in the game.  Good  Tactical, Helm,Engineer and Ops. Officers That learn quickly are worth way more than the best weapon refit. Not to mention a competent Captain.

   Yes and that K tinga can cloak petty different from SFC2 SFC2OP is it.I like it to better than the Shriek but it is only a CL in EAW and OP it is a CA.It was a CA in 23C. just letting you know.

Hmm, I had SFC3 for a while, but I never knew all the 'stuff' that was in it. However, isn't it fun when you take down mighty big muthas with a few good tactics and fast, small, manouverable ships?

arent they suppose to be almighty and powerful anyways, if i remember correctly, the defiant used to take down Keldons and Galor with about 4 torpedoes, not destroy it but serverely damage it, and compared to the Way of the Warrior, it took three brel like forever to destroy a galor,and the enterprise e fire was it three or four at the borg sphere and destroyed it in seconds, i mean i know the game is supposed to be alittle balanced or atleast we hope but thats why they are called quantums, maybe they should be alittle more expensive and harder to get, i dont know if this can be done but maybe they should only be given to ships that have very experienced officers, and only be allowed on some ships or etc..., i dont know just a thought, in my mod, i usually well this is SFC2OP, not 3, but it could apply, I usually give certain starships quantums, and the ones that do get them get a certain amount,  regardless if the ship has lets say 8 torpedoes bays, i only give it to the forward section maybe one bay and thats it, the remainders are with standard photons, just to make it more realistic, not even the enterprise E has quantums all over the place, it only has a forward one, and the rest that the ship primarly uses are standard photons, ok, alittle too long sorwie

 Yea It is!! One of my favorite tactics is to start the game on the easiest setting Commander I believe it is, Sell my CL for a FF, Use all the extra Prestige to buy the bests Officers on the map( This may take allot of traveling!). When i have all my Officers on board, The i can fully refit my FF.
 Then i go collect a fleet and go looking for a fight. Its loads of fun then to go mob a Rom DN, Slowly rip it to shreds then capture the ship and collect all that prestige. I love it you gotta move fast stay out of her forward weapons arc and pray to what ever gods you pray to, Because if you get hit just once by this big P.Oed Bit#h you are toast.
 Another way to really test my self is take on a Borg Cube with a Vor`cha this can take up to an hour or more ( if i don't mess up ) It is the same thing one mistake, One slip up and you are toast i love it!!!!!

Tell the poster about those quantums.I like them it would be nice to have more than one torpedo in SFC1,2,2OP that all a little bit more powerful.It will be nice when they put a refit section in a newwer version of OP.But not right now in a few years maybe.

Orion Pirates has it's own version of the Quantum.... it works just like a regular torpedo.. only the damage yealds are doubled... and IIRC, the holding cost is a bit more as well as charging costs..

anyhow..

in OP.. you have the Photorp (Photon Torpedo abbreviated)

It's damage is  :

proxy - 4 pts
Normal - 8 pts
Overload -16 pts

now the Heavy Photorp is as follows

Proxy - 8 pts
Normal - 16 pts
Overload - 32 pts

So essentially Orion Pirates already has the Quantum torpedo, just by a different name due to the time period the game is based in and because of SFB terminology.

Only the heavy Photorps usuly come on X-Ships or in OP +... Pre-X-ship refits.. (limited availability)

Yeah I know about that, but It would be nice to be able to have more torpedo options, or atleast have the ability to have the same ones in different textures, after i use those two up, all i hvae left are plasmas, which really are slow, even the X one, didnt i mention i love the PlasmaSnare, it rocks lol

Part of the new Beta build that you may not have noticed yet is that the AI now repair their Warp and Impulse engines. They will also slowly auto-repair without using a spare part.

YES IT IS TRUE, FEDS ARE PRACTICALLY INVICEIBLE THANKS TO QUANTUM TORPEDOES.  THIS IS BECAUSE AT LEAST EVERY 3 QUANTUMS TAKES OUT AN ofFICER.  WITH THE FIRST VOLLEY ALONE(3 6 OR 9 TORPEDOES FIRED) A SOV CAN TAKE OUT THREE OF YOUR OFFICERS.  AND THEY PROBABLY WILL BE TACTICAL, ENGINEERING AND HELM.  SO NOW YOU CAN'T HIT THE SOV, RUN FROM IT, OR WARP AWAY.  LET ME PUT THIS INTO PERSPECTIVE.  A BORG CUBE, WITH EASILY DOUBLED THE FIREPOWER OF A SOV, IS FIGHTING A SOV.  THE CUBE SHOULDN'T BECOME USELESS AFTER THE FIRST VOLLEY OF QUNTUMS TAKES OUT THE TACTICAL OFFICER. NOW YOU CAN'T DO SQUAT, AND THE SOV DESTROYS YOU.  A CUBE HAS TO BE AT LEAST 50X THE SIZE OF A PUNY SOV.  NOT TO MENTION HOW QUANTUMS EASILY HIT 50 RANGE OUT, YET A GRAVIMETRIC TORPEDO CAN'T HIT ANYTHING BEHIND 35. The game is not built to balance each individual ship against one another. (Though some of the excellent mods have made efforts to do so) If you can't get the Sovereign using one ship, call up a buddy and bomb it with two...

There is no doubt in my mind that Quantums are the best weapons in the game, but they are also expensive and heavy, So if you can't win tactically, win strategitcally by choosing some creative builds for your ship(s).


But that's not my point. I'm not a very godo SFC3 player either... I'm sure there are better advices abound.

My point is, it's not true that there is "just now a _beta_ patch for it".
This is the Second (or third depends how close one monitors the game) beta patch .

Is Hello talking about the Sovs in the new Beta Patch?  I haven't gotten that far with the new Patch yet, but from what I havee seen so far, I really like the new Beta patch.  He is probably a Klingon player and is pissed off that he can't easily win anymore in a Vorcha zipping around at speed 100 at impulse.  

Players that design ships like that I think are pathetic.  I look forward too this new beta patch because I think it will put the feds and Romulans more on a level playing feild now.

    I have never reffited a Vorcha for outright speed only manuverablity most of mine only go to speed has high 32 or 34 more around 32.They are well armed though.

     Any impulse power over a speed of 35 is a waste in my opinion.  But then again I don't use the smaller vessels like the Saber and Norway alot either.

  Since we can't take into account your skill vs those nasty blue smurfs firing Q's at you, I would say, try using erratics, Mr. HIGHSTRUNG, those type of weapons are most effected by it. There are other things you could do, but that's classified info.
