FEDS/SOVEREIGN WAY TOO OVER POWERED SFC3
« on: April 25, 2004, 01:01:13 pm »
YES IT IS TRUE, FEDS ARE PRACTICALLY INVICEIBLE THANKS TO QUANTUM TORPEDOES.  THIS IS BECAUSE AT LEAST EVERY 3 QUANTUMS TAKES OUT AN ofFICER.  WITH THE FIRST VOLLEY ALONE(3 6 OR 9 TORPEDOES FIRED) A SOV CAN TAKE OUT THREE OF YOUR OFFICERS.  AND THEY PROBABLY WILL BE TACTICAL, ENGINEERING AND HELM.  SO NOW YOU CAN'T HIT THE SOV, RUN FROM IT, OR WARP AWAY.  LET ME PUT THIS INTO PERSPECTIVE.  A BORG CUBE, WITH EASILY DOUBLED THE FIREPOWER OF A SOV, IS FIGHTING A SOV.  THE CUBE SHOULDN'T BECOME USELESS AFTER THE FIRST VOLLEY OF QUNTUMS TAKES OUT THE TACTICAL OFFICER. NOW YOU CAN'T DO SQUAT, AND THE SOV DESTROYS YOU.  A CUBE HAS TO BE AT LEAST 50X THE SIZE OF A PUNY SOV.  NOT TO MENTION HOW QUANTUMS EASILY HIT 50 RANGE OUT, YET A GRAVIMETRIC TORPEDO CAN'T HIT ANYTHING BEHIND 35. LOOK INTO THIS, ITS WAY TOO STUPID.

WHEN DID THIS GAME HIT THE SHELVES? AND THERE IS JUST NOW A >>>>>>>>>>>>BETA<<<<<<<<<<<<< PATCH FOR IT?

JESUS CHRIST

Feds ARE the good guys after all...

just kidding.
The game is not built to balance each individual ship against one another. (Though some of the excellent mods have made efforts to do so) If you can't get the Sovereign using one ship, call up a buddy and bomb it with two...

There is no doubt in my mind that Quantums are the best weapons in the game, but they are also expensive and heavy, So if you can't win tactically, win strategitcally by choosing some creative builds for your ship(s).

But that's not my point. I'm not a very godo SFC3 player either... I'm sure there are better advices abound.

My point is, it's not true that there is "just now a _beta_ patch for it".
This is the Second (or third depends how close one monitors the game) beta patch .

Is Hello talking about the Sovs in the new Beta Patch?  I haven't gotten that far with the new Patch yet, but from what I havee seen so far, I really like the new Beta patch.  He is probably a Klingon player and is pissed off that he can't easily win anymore in a Vorcha zipping around at speed 100 at impulse.

Players that design ships like that I think are pathetic.  I look forward too this new beta patch because I think it will put the feds and Romulans more on a level playing feild now.

Any impulse power over a speed of 35 is a waste in my opinion.  But then again I don't use the smaller vessels like the Saber and Norway alot either.

Since we can't take into account your skill vs those nasty blue smurfs firing Q's at you, I would say, try using erratics, Mr. HIGHSTRUNG, those type of weapons are most effected by it. There are other things you could do, but that's classified info.

Perhaps your game is bugged.  I've heard of some people who's games become bugged and every shot hits and/or takes out an officer.

Try reinstalling...

A Borg Cube is way too overpowered, not a Sov.  The Cube can kill 2 or 3 Sov's, but costs the same as a Sov, which is unfair on the dnaverse.

I think every now and again you run into a ship with legendary crew that will give you a good pounding know matter how good you are. I have had this happen to me a couple of times even with a legendary crew my self,It will wake you up defiantly. I have noticed Borg ships are not very fond of poloron torps. either.
But then and again who wants to fly around being omnipotent? Where is the fun in that.

Maybe so, but Global Internet Chatting systems proclaim all caps to be considered yelling... I'm sure he wouldn't appreciate it if all my postings were completly in caps back to him.. plus he would have a hard time reading it as well, especially in white text on a black screen.. it is called eyestrain.

I'm wondering how he got enough prestige to buy a Borg Cube in 3 days? He must have been playing non stop, And that would explain his demeanor? He or she is tired.

Or they are playing Single Player and edited the Character.gf file for single player to where he could start off in a Borg Cube.

The Q-torps are the best at range. They give Feds an unfair advantage in base assaults, but not really in PvP. Close the gap! If range is someone's advantage, you'd better believe that my top priority would be to get into knife-fighting range. Two of the other three races have an ingenious advantage at this, a cloaking device, use it. Klinks have a decided advantage in maneuverability still, plus the most powerful weapon over time. The Roms have a decided Alpha strike advantage, with more forward-firing weapon slots and the highest single-shot damage weapon. As for the Borg, it has already been stated here that they get more bang for the buck with their ships.

A properly fitted Negh'var is a 24 hour wide awake nightmare to anything save for a Borg cube.

I agree completely tho i favor the Vorcha my self. Any time i fly the Feds i use the same tactics to stay out of range of proximity's , which we all know can be a real pain in the Butt.
The Soviets use the same tactics when using Tanks in Battle, It keeps them too close for Artillery to be used effectively.
