Yay! Woot! *Does victory dance*

Thanks guys, I couldn't have done it without you all. I've joined Dynaverse 2 as frazzle, non-suprisingly, and I've just came out of my first gaming session. It was cool introducing myself, but alas, not many people where on the server so I played against the AI. The game has crashed, thanks to AOL kicking in with something or other, but it still rocks.

If anyone is heading in there, look out for frazzle (Lt. Commander) with the Hydrans, and my ship names will probably be:

- HMS Stardust
-HMS Custer's Army
-HMS Gastrian

Not tonoght for me though. I'm very tired after the downloading and fixing the computer and so forth. G'night, and thanks again - I'll see you on the back end of a Fusion Cannon

Yay! Cheers. I don't have any money, but rest assured, I will get it someday. However, I shall throw myself into the one campaign that's on right now. Thanks go to the friendly folk who welcomed me...you might know them:

The names were:

-Demonizer

-Bobcat

-Marcus

...and a couple of others

I didn't fight any of them, but it was still great fun nonetheless.

I'm glad you are finally up and running.  EAW is a great game.  Once you get enough of that you can get OP and have all the extra ships and pirates.

Might as well toss my question onto this, since it's related.  I login and everything seems to work fine, except the server list is totally empty, even if I refresh.    Could there be some problem that could cause this other than the school blocking the ports?  I don't think that's the case, but I want to make sure.... and what ports are used server-side?  I know the school blocks some in the 6000 ranges(don't rememebr the exact ports right now) because of bittorrent and some other ports that I don't know offhand because they're used for the major P2P programs(WinMX, Kazaa, etc), but the client-side uses ports in the 4000 ranges.

Are you usingthe correct patch?

for SFC II : EAW

latest patch is 2036

you can get the patch for your specific region from my wab page at :

http://www.nightsoft.net/effhq/sfc22.html

this patch goes on Out of box install only.. do not use if your game is already patched..

if you game is already patched, uninstall EAW and delete the Starfleet Command Empires at War game directory off your system...

reinstall EAW, then patch using the appropriate patch on the page above.

for SFC II : Orion Pirates

latest patch is 2552

you can get the patch for your specific region from my wab page at :

http://www.nightsoft.net/effhq/sfcop2.html

this patch goes on Out of box install only.. do not use if your game is already patched..

if you game is already patched, uninstall OP and delete the Starfleet Command Prion Pirates game directory off your system...

reinstall OP, then patch using the appropriate patch on the page above.

alternatively, instead of Downloaing the patch, you can get the OP Enhancement Pack v1.04, which contains a whole lot of things including the affore mentioned game patch... you can find more information at :

http://forums.taldren.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=302232&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1

for SFC 3,

Follow the patching instructions found at :

http://www.xenocorp.net/downloads/ftp/Starfleet_Command/Starfleet_Command_OP/SFC3.html

P.S. the SFC II EAW and SFC II OP pages listing the patches above will be back up soon.. the Enhacnement pack for SFC II OP link is working and the SFC 3 patch page is working..

hope that this helps.

While it may not be directly related to this place, Gamespy is the only thing keeping me from getting online with SFC2! I downloaded it, set up an account and then....nothing. The startpage for it keeps asking me to put my email into it to validate it. I did this, and then it didn't find my profile.

I've set up about 4 profiles now - none of them work with my AOL email or Hotmail email. This is a right bugger - I'm so close to finally getting online with this thing, and now this swine slaps me in the face. Please help

Hmm, I'll put this into simple terms -

How on earth do you play on an online campaign with SFC2? I downloaded the latest patch, got Gamespy...uh, what now?

Don't log on to gamespy.  Go into the game and go into multiplayer and pick dynaverse.   Before you do ,make sure you are properly patched to the right version.

What version shows up in the bottom right of the title page when you start up SFC2 (assuming EAW and not OP)?

I hate to bring you down and all, but you have not patched up correctly. If you patched correctly then the new version (2.0.3.6) would be displayed.

Once you have patched correctly the Dynaverse will be accessible.

He is right you have the wrong patch it is outdated if you want the new one don't down load ir until you have unistalled the game and delete the game folder. Then reinstall the game say no to both direct x and gamespy. When you have installed the game you can download 2036 from www.sfcx.org and look for DL when SFC2 coome up click on it and you see a the DL for 2036 down load from the right country eg.2036US.You do not need a membership there to DL  I hope all this helps.Your Welcome

*Sigh* Yes, I used the link, downloaded 2036 server thingy (the one at the top of the list), but I can't figure out what to do now. The game didn't update itself like it's done before, and I've waited an hour for this download, much to the annoyment of my family.....the folder was zipped, so I unzipped it, but wha-?

This is really frustrating, I don't have a clue and all I want to do is get the friggin' thing online once and for all. Why can't I get onto Dynaverse 2?!?

I'm sorry if I sound hostile, but I am literal banging my head off the desk here

You say you downloaded the server thingy?   Why?  That's only if you want to host a server.   What you need is the 2036 patch for SFC2.

Aw crap. I'm assuming that I will have to uninstall the game (again), re-install it (again) and then download something that will take absolutely aaaaaaaages to load? Okie dokie. Man, and I'll have to get rid of that patch I got for the server....

hmm, and to make sure it works, it will display 2036 in the bottom right hand of the loading screen? And in multiplayer, it should have a seperate Dynaverse option?

Look, before I do it (and here's hoping that it works), I want to thank you all for having the patience and diligence to try and help me

I won't forget it, I owe you some amount of favours already

You got the D2 server for EAW.I told you to look around for 2036US or UK or Germany where you live you will have to click on SFC2 and sroll down and look for what patch you want there are servers in there aswell do not download them just the patch.I would suggest you read them carfully and it good to have DL manager I would get www.getright.com mirror 3 you can stop the DL and ressume at another time.I did not say server I said you can get the patch from but look for 2036 it is like 24 mb the server is more just look on the site and familiarize yourself with it.You can always be a member.I hate to tell you this but you will have to uninstall the game  agian delete game folder or if you know where the server is in your game folder delete and try your game unpatched the patch as I said.I realy suggest you taking your time with this and do't rush it.
 I hope this helps
Btw I had to do this several times on my games and I put a patch on top of a patch and my shiplist became fried so do others in here you are just Knew to it all thats all I wish you luck this time. Take your time on that site.
