Gamespy login not working
« on: April 24, 2004, 02:38:21 pm »
While it may not be directly related to this place, Gamespy is the only thing keeping me from getting online with SFC2! I downloaded it, set up an account and then....nothing. The startpage for it keeps asking me to put my email into it to validate it. I did this, and then it didn't find my profile.

I've set up about 4 profiles now - none of them work with my AOL email or Hotmail email. This is a right bugger - I'm so close to finally getting online with this thing, and now this swine slaps me in the face. Please help

Hmm, I'll put this into simple terms -

How on earth do you play on an online campaign with SFC2? I downloaded the latest patch, got Gamespy...uh, what now?

Don't log on to gamespy.  Go into the game and go into multiplayer and pick dynaverse.   Before you do ,make sure you are properly patched to the right version.

What version shows up in the bottom right of the title page when you start up SFC2 (assuming EAW and not OP)?

I hate to bring you down and all, but you have not patched up correctly. If you patched correctly then the new version (2.0.3.6) would be displayed.

Once you have patched correctly the Dynaverse will be accessible.

He is right you have the wrong patch it is outdated if you want the new one don't down load ir until you have unistalled the game and delete the game folder. Then reinstall the game say no to both direct x and gamespy. When you have installed the game you can download 2036 from www.sfcx.org and look for DL when SFC2 coome up click on it and you see a the DL for 2036 down load from the right country eg.2036US.You do not need a membership there to DL  I hope all this helps.Your Welcome

*Sigh* Yes, I used the link, downloaded 2036 server thingy (the one at the top of the list), but I can't figure out what to do now. The game didn't update itself like it's done before, and I've waited an hour for this download, much to the annoyment of my family.....the folder was zipped, so I unzipped it, but wha-?

This is really frustrating, I don't have a clue and all I want to do is get the friggin' thing online once and for all. Why can't I get onto Dynaverse 2?!?

I'm sorry if I sound hostile, but I am literal banging my head off the desk here

You say you downloaded the server thingy?   Why?  That's only if you want to host a server.   What you need is the 2036 patch for SFC2.

Aw crap. I'm assuming that I will have to uninstall the game (again), re-install it (again) and then download something that will take absolutely aaaaaaaages to load? Okie dokie. Man, and I'll have to get rid of that patch I got for the server....

hmm, and to make sure it works, it will display 2036 in the bottom right hand of the loading screen? And in multiplayer, it should have a seperate Dynaverse option?

Look, before I do it (and here's hoping that it works), I want to thank you all for having the patience and diligence to try and help me

I won't forget it, I owe you some amount of favours already

You got the D2 server for EAW.I told you to look around for 2036US or UK or Germany where you live you will have to click on SFC2 and sroll down and look for what patch you want there are servers in there aswell do not download them just the patch.I would suggest you read them carfully and it good to have DL manager I would get www.getright.com mirror 3 you can stop the DL and ressume at another time.I did not say server I said you can get the patch from but look for 2036 it is like 24 mb the server is more just look on the site and familiarize yourself with it.You can always be a member.I hate to tell you this but you will have to uninstall the game  agian delete game folder or if you know where the server is in your game folder delete and try your game unpatched the patch as I said.I realy suggest you taking your time with this and do't rush it.
 I hope this helps
Btw I had to do this several times on my games and I put a patch on top of a patch and my shiplist became fried so do others in here you are just Knew to it all thats all I wish you luck this time. Take your time on that site.

I live in the UK - so I guess that's where I mucked up. Hmm, so I better not download that US one....

Right *thinks really hard*, if I get this patch, will it display 2036 on the loading screen, and allow me to get onto Dynaverse 2 through the multiplayer menu?

No, wait! I'll ask them! D'uh! Obvious answer!

Ok.You will need the 2036 UK version and get is just a DL loading manager especially if you are doing big DL it doesn't matter whether you are on high speed or dial up it is good tool to have. What are you trying to do play EAW in D2 you can but there won't be many in there as everyone now in useing OP and that is the standard game in D2 not EAW you can still get a copy of OP there is a sticky in posted bt TostyO I believe.
I know this frustrating but that you got the wrong patch now you will have reinstall everthing after realizing that you now have the wrong game for D2.It is just learning exprience don't be hard on yourself or get angry just except that you are new to all of this and be patient.I would suspect you are young you have lots of time to do all of this it is not like the world is going to end tommorow.I hope you aren't getting angry at me to as I am helping you out here.I had to do this several times but I did have all STC series 1,vol.2EAW,vol.2OP and 3. I hope this relly helps you out.
BTW I do not yet play in D2 as I am on a shared ISP and at times I have get off so theres my reason for nor being in D2.I am looking at getting my own but I have get the lines checked where I live.

No, don't worry, I'm not angry at anyone for helping

But, OP? Is that Orion Pirates? Um, please explain, since I'm not sure what you're talking about. I'm halfway through downloading the UK 2036 patch for SFC2 EAW, but I should still be able to play it online just through the multiplayer option in the game? Is there any additional requirements I need to know about?

I feel a lot better after smashing level 9 oppenents in Super Smash Bros. Melee for half an hour...damn...this PC has swallowed my GC time.

ok.. when you patch.. make sure you patch on a fresh clean install of SFC II EAW.. and make sure of your patch language....

To adjust your screen resolution for EAW, get the utility from my web site at :

http://www.nightsoft.net/effhq/scr2.html

called EZ-INI.. it allows you to do several things.. but it also adjusts the screen resolution to fit your needs.

now launch game, go to Multiplayer.. in the left picture you will see Dynaverse written.. click on the word Dynaverse...

Now you come to a patch verification screen and account log in..

you have to have a Gamespy Arcade account to log into Dynaverse II

If you do not have one.. do not worry.. just fill out your email, password and user name in the spaces provided, then click Create Account on the right....

it should state in the screen that User has been created successfully... then you can click the little join button..

once yo join, there will be a server directory.. select a server and read the description.. some servers require additional downloads (mods) in order to log on... the servers will not let you join until you get any additional files it requires..

once you join on a server, create a user name and select your race... then click join again, and your on the map...

____________________________________

now for Multiplayer Skirmish mode (no map and 1 vs 1 action instantly)

Do not launch game..

Find Gamespy Arcaded using your we browser and download the ad-supported version (free)

Once you do that.. you can log in to gamespy arcade using the same account you made for the Dynaverse.. (or vica versa) or create a new account / user name..

after which, you enter a lobby.. on the left hand side there is a column of icons.. click on EAW Icon to go to the game staging area.. in the main window, click on Join Lobby

To the bottom left you will see the players, in the top main window is the game rooms that are open.. one's with keys need passwords.. the rest do not..

chat with people there and they can get you going in no time at all..

I hope that this helps.

Sooo, the moment of truth. A clean install of SFC2 and the patch is ready to go....this had so better work, or else you'll have me annoying you all forever more

Oh, and I got the sledgehammer ready as well.
