Game crashing with Specs mod

Hey everyone,
after starting work on the specs side of Sci-fi Bashfest, the game now crashes every time I select Klingons or Romulans.

So far, I moved every Romulan to the Klingon slot (by going through the defaultloadout on the leftmost colomn and changing Romulan to Klingon in every instance).  So the Roms and Klingons are in the same slot.

I set in CommonSettings the Roms to have disruptors and pulse phasers and polarons and mytronics.
I also set it to give the Klingons Plasma Torpedoes (since the Roms are in that slot too) and mytronics.

I copied the Romulan Hawk and kept it on Romulan, and stuck the Imperial Star Destroyer model in (yes i did defaultcore first).

I was going to go in the game and customize the ISD and save it in the CustomLoadOut, then copy that to DefaultLoadOut, but then I go in game, and go to Single Player Skirmish, and the moment I click on either Klingons or Romulans the game goes CRASSSH.

Can anyone help?

Okay, by replacing the commonsettings with the originals, the Klingons now work (sorta).

All the Romulan ships I turned into Klingons are gone- they don't show up.

There are no Romulan ships, where there should be a Star Destroyer.

What am I doing wrong here?

Well gee, ya think that they have a DefaultLoadOut and DefaultCore in OP?  

It's SFC3, yeah.

Did you change the ShortEmpireName section in the RaceNames.gf file? That sounds like what you've done. You CANNOT change any of these names - you can move them about, such as swapping Cardassian & Borg between 3 & 5 as I (and a few others) have done. But you CANNOT put in new names.

Yup, you're right, that messed it up.  I fixed that, and now the Klingons work, but the none of the Romulan ships I moved to the Klingon race slot show up, and the Star Destroyer in the Rom race slot is missing.

It doesn't crash when I select Klingon any more, but still when I select Rom.  And if I go through the vessel library, there are no Romulan ships, when there should be a Star Destroyer.  And the Romulan ships that I changed the race to Klingon aren't showing up.

What race is in the Romulan slot - as in what race is listed in the RaceNames.gf file - it must match the race listed in the RaceNames.gf file.

On the ships not showing up - did you remember to set the ItemRules.gf file up correctly?

You must make sure that you have the 1 ticked if you are mixing technology.

And you must make sure the default skirmish ship is a ship in that race, and matches a SubName, or you'll get a blank ship(or another crash).

You...are a genius...

Looking over your itemrules...the one thing I was missing was MixRacialTech=1.  I guess that was blocking the Roms ships because they had plasma torps!

Thanks!  The Klingon ships show up!

Unfortunately, the Star Destroyer still doesn't- still nothing in the Rom slot from vessel library, and it crashes from Skirmish.

Okay, I stuck in my old CustomLoadOut that had a customized Romulan ship.  The custom rommie is the only ship that appears at the Vessel Library screen in the Rom section, and it crashes in a skirmish.

Two questions:-

1:- Is the Star Destroyer mentioned in the "InvalidShips.txt" file.

2:- Are you using Excel or Notepad to edit. If you are using notepad, stop and switch to Excel. It's both easier & you are less likely to make silly errors that stop a ship from loading up.

On the Star Destroyer, it's simple - you have a Comp & a Cloak fitted to the ship, but only 1 Bridge Hardpoints. You need to remove the cloak.

DOH! Forgot I was copying a Rom!

I copied a Rom on every ship...that explains it!

1-No, it's not mentioned...
2-Excel and CoreEdit

Strange...I did that with all the SW ships I had done, but only the ISD showed up.  No A-wing or ISD mark 2...

Strangely enough...the hardpoints on the UI don't show up...ah well, thats a bug to work out later.  TY again!

Make sure the Comp is marked as the first hardpoint (ends in :1)

If hardpoints are not showing up, then it can only be an issue with the .gf file - that's what specifies the position of all hardpoints.

Hardpoints only work on the A-wing for some reason (I did it with Util5 on all of them), and I can't get the Corellian Corvette working, but I got the A-wing, ISD, and ISD mark 2 so far
