Broad band/ADSL question

I have 512MB DSL connection but I can never seem to get a download over 50KB/s.
how can I increase it, any ideas guys?

Try this page http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks and see if it's any help..I typicly get 200-300 kbs.  You'll never get max if you're on a hub or network (typical in city situations..all the cables feed into a router, etc..)

You might want to see if you have any massively big bandwidth eaters in the background as well.  These can effectively cut down your d/l speeds.  Also see where you are d/ling from.  Try to get European servers or if not possible, NA East Coast servers, as opposed to Asian servers or connections that are far away.
