USS Prometheus
« on: April 22, 2004, 10:06:12 am »
Hi everyone!

This is my first post, i'm sure a lot of people have posted about the Prometheus, but i'm really stuck with it! Problem is that i've copied the folder over to models in the SFC3 folder, changed the name to Prometheus, and i added the necessary changes to the Defaultcore.txt & DefaulLoadOut.txt files. When i go into the game and go to the ship library, it'll show up but anything that's meant to come after it in the list i.e starbases, spacedock etc.. they won't show up. When i go to start a conquest campaign with the Federation the map won't load up after the progress bar is full and the game crashes, the readme isn't that detailed.

Can anyone help me plz?

I'd appreciate any help!

Cheers

Thanks for the reply!

What folder is the 'invalidships.txt' file located in?

Hi 101

The Invalid Ship List is in the Activision Folder (it's a text file and should open in notepad).  It usually tells you if ships don't work because they've got overloaded hull space or invalid hardpoints etc, so they can be quicly corrected.

The problem you talk about sounds like an error has been made in the entry for the Prometheus itself.  It is easily done and even more easy to miss.

Did you edit the files using Excel?  If not, you may have accidentally added or lost a column  in the DefaultLoadOut text or DefaultCore.  This is easier to spot in Excel, all you have to do is make sure the entries are aligned in the correct oolumns and eother insert or delete an empty cell as appropriate.

Alternatively there may be an error in the loadout, perhaps an extra : or incomplete firing arc, or something like that (or something similar could be missing).  Look carefully at the details entered and double check everything is entered correctly.

I hope that helps you out, if not, e-mail both files to me and I'll take a quick look for you - but I'll not be able to do anything with them until tomorrow evening as I'm working away from home again.

Check your mailbox.  Let me know if there is still a problem (I can't test it fully as I don't have some of the models you've added) but from what I can tell it should work just fine now.
