What exactly is a drone cruiser, and what does a drone do? WHen I first saw them  I thought it meant a remote operated ship...but what do they do?

Drones are another term for missiles. A drone cruiser has missiles that replace the normal heavy weapons. In the case of a Fed the photons would be replaced with drones. Their main design goal is for fleet support and planetary or base bombardment. In SFC people use them as stand alone cruisers. When used as they were intended though they rarely would operate independently.

I want your opinions for this F-NSC ..  Took me a few days to think up something proper for this thing, as well as an hour and a half to do the front part.

Anyways..
.. what do you think?

Why dont you put them on the saucer like the GSC model?

Those look like khaliba textures, MP. Wonder what would happen if you stole that middle warp nacell and put it in the same place on a regular reliant?

I'd like to see that kitbash.

Actually it's a ship Captain Ron created based on a suggestion by me and a physical model by Phil Giunta. And you can find it here...........

 http://www.the-tcs.net/USS Newkirk .

The way great ideas become ships in this community I have no doubt that you will see that bash eventually.

Because:
a- the GSC has a slightly modified hull to stow its sensors.
b- the photons are supposed to be replaced by sensors, and that's where the photons go in the scheme I chose.

Yeah, FS, I get the canon thing, but they are so small they mise well be blue light bulbs. Or a giant fish bowl window. Or a night light for dark space navigation...

They are ridiculously small and too hard to see them to make any difference in ship recognition at any range greater than maybe 3-4k zoom out, heh. I mean... u want a seperate model for this one, and u make a seperate folder for it... U mise well put the sensors in the saucer like the gsc so u can identify the thing. Your looking at the tail end and you wont see the pretty blue dishes. They need to go in the hull to differentiate it from the others. Besides, that [bleep] just looks cool... .

I dont even know why I care... I dont even really like any of these ships... but they grow on you... They are turning out to be such a nice set... Its growing on me... like a fungus. eww.

Hey FireSoul. I thought that I saw a scout variant that you were doing that simply replaced the 4xDro with the sensors, but still with the standard pod on the nose. I looked through the thread but didn't see it. Either I'm (1) blind, (2) imagining things, or (3) dreaming about SFC . Anyhow, I thought that arrangement looked better. Sorry for all of the work that nobody seems to like. The effort is appreciated though.

I removed it. People thought they were heavy photon launchers. Silly, eh?

Good points. However, perhaps making the sensor pods larger will help. I'll have to toy with it tonight.

You are right though about them looking like Khalibans textures as The textures I use are patterend off of his. I started off using his saucer and mine for the other areas until I figured out how to make a saucer set for me. I had to borrow a friends PhotoShop suite inorder to do the saucer as PSP can not do it easily.

Anyone is free to do it.

It uses Pneumonic81s' ships parts so you will have to credit him for the model. It can also use either my texures or his orginal textures depending on the look you want or which Reliant to hook it up to.

Ok.. well.. screw the sensor-pod-replacing-photon-tubes idea. the scouts will have nothing underneath, and that will give me a model variant I can reuse.

Next exposition teaser, pending some texturing:

F-NAC:
F-NAE (Conjectural, It's an NCA with the NAC's weapons.):

F-NAL (Conjectural):

Those look good and will be released once texturing has been sorted out.

Hey FireSoul. I know that OP+ is TMP based and that you are doing these so you can add them to it, but do you think that maybe, just possibly, is there even a small chance that you'd consider doing these variants to the original TOS versions of Atra's NCA/NCL models? I'd love to have these for my TOS models pack.
