Fallout 3 and Taldren
« on: April 15, 2004, 09:22:50 pm »
Hey all,
I have an idea. A crazy idea, but it would most definitly work. Just hear me out though.
Black 9 is in a state of limbo, or flux if you're a diehard engineer.  This basically means that I dont know what Taldren is up to, so I am trying to fill the void.
Now, look at the Fallout series fanbase.  See the resemblance to us? Rabid, intelligent fans. (for the most part, as is here.)  IF Taldren could secure the deal to produce Fallout 3, that would give them the increased credibility they need to work on Black 9.
The reason I think Taldren fits the bill is because of their experience with US as a fanbase with SFC.  Both SFC and Fallout have had their ups and downs, what with Magic Photons and such. (DO NOT COMMENT ON PHOTONS PLEASE GOD!)
Anyways, you see my point. Taldren has the expertise with this kind of fanbase, and they are obviously wanting to tinker in the RPG sector with Black 9. What better way to do that than with the Fallout series?  With the balancing experience they've gotten from Black 9, I'm sure good things would happen.

I always said the same thing about some type of Farscape the series game.  With a Farscape mini-series airing in December or January and Henson wanting to generate some hype.  This type of deal could be just at the right time.  From what few pictures I have seen of Black 9, a Farscape crossover might be a good fit for the game.  I'd certainly give the game a try, something to thing about anyway.

BTW, here's some Screenies for you fallout fans.

The Fallout games were my favorite RPG type games. I've always preferred SF based over Fantasy because I have little to no belief in magic which makes Fantasy games silly to me.

EDIT: Htis was just posted tosay, so there might be some good news coming About the Fallout game.

 http://www.gamespot.com/news/2004/04/15/news_6093628.html

Interplay resurrecting Fallout 3?

CEO Herve Caen says his company will publish the postnuclear RPG, hints it is farming out development.
Following yesterday's conference call with investors, Interplay CEO Herve Caen casually dropped a bombshell. "We're planning to publish Fallout 3," he bluntly told an analyst who was inquiring about the PC role-playing game sequel.

The news came as a shock, given that the game community had all but dug Fallout 3's plot in the game graveyard. The bad news started last year when a series of prominent persons, including Feargus Urquhart and JE Sawyer, left Fallout 3's developer, Black Isle Studios.

The departures sparked rumors of problems behind the scenes at Black Isle, Interplay's internal role-playing game studio. One of its premier projects, Baldur's Gate 3 (code-named "Jefferson") was put on indefinite hold following Interplay's loss of the Dungeons & Dragons license to Atari.

That left Fallout 3, the next chapter in one of the most widely admired RPG series of all time, as Black Isle's sole project. However, in November, Interplay shut down Black Isle, and sent its entire staff packing. With nobody working on Fallout 3--and its dismissed developers spitting venom--the industry assumed that the game was dead in the water. That is, until today.

Though Caen was uncharacteristically direct about Fallout 3's publishing plans, he was less so about its development. "Fallout 3 is not actively being developed right now," he said, "but we will have an announcement on that front soon, regarding that project."

Later in the session, Caen gave a hint about when that announcement may be. When an analyst asked if it was most likely that Fallout 3 would be developed by an external studio, Caen answered, "Correct."

Very good news indeed.

But you obviously see my point, Fallout isn't really owned by Black Isle anymore, since there is no Black Isle, right?

Fallout 1 & 2 were the BEST comp RPG games ever made, and in my very favorite genre.  I'd deefinatley spend the cash to buy it.  Only problem I see, is can Taldren secure the assistance of Feargus Urquart? (spelling?)

HE wa sthe driving/creative lead in Fallout 1 &2, without him, and his specific genious, F3 would be a hard sell.
