You are correct when comparing Winzip 8.1 to WinRAR... don't get me wrong.. Winzip 9 just came out a couple months ago which offers the new compression level.

Hey Guys,

If I am correct (and let me know if I am) these ships come from three ancient books by FASA:

FASA #2301 Klingon Recognition Manual
FASA #2302 Federation Recognition Manual
FASA #2303 Romulan Recognition Manual

These are long out of print.

However, a long time ago, I got a copy of all three of these, scanned in as three seperate PDFS. Since FASA is out of business and these have been long LONG out of print, do you think it would be bad to post these up somewhere?

I think it would be neat to have the ships, and then the books the ships came from (semi-hertical canon) all in the same spot.

I asked Brad R. Torgersen author of Star Trek Star Ship Tactical Combat Simulator - Millennium Update & Archive to have a look see at the collection and invited him to do the work up on it that Chris Jones has requested. Who better than a creator of a FASA Trek website...

Brad's website is picture intensive  and is located here: http://www.sub-odeon.com/stsstcsmua/

Yes, Irish Klingon, Most of these ships are from the three FASA Trek ship recognition manuals. There are Fan ships and SFC Community variants [REFITS] that are to awesome to be lost to cyberspace.

I will continue to collect FASA to SFC models in the hopes that their will be a more definitive collection that fills in all the gaps I know that are out there.

Wow - this is cool KF. I look forward to the write up.

Nightsoft is down for maintenance tonight it seems. They will soon be upgrading to allow much faster downloads, and are currently in a state of transition. Raven told me this very recently, and has warned of occasional downtime during the transition. For the moment I cannot upload the 56K versions of these ships  but will keep at it till Nightsoft allows uploads. Guess you could say the server is in a state of 'temporal flux'.

Soooo... what gives with KF's FASA archive? It's fallen far too deep in the forum and I'd have to think there has to be some really good stuff in there. Could ya give us an idea as to when, Chris?

I'm looking for some web space that allows me to display directories. The place where I have the big file does not.

I'm still workin on it.

Actually I have the space, it's just I'd have  to zip each ship individually, I don't really have the time..

Thank you for the update. And for taking on the project to begin with.

I was just kind of hoping and being all impatient and stuff. Like we never see that around here. So when you have the time and the inclination there are people like me that are keeping tabs on it. KF's FASA archive has to be a fairly cool achievement and should not fall off the radar screen. Of course I should probably be bold enough to show up at a friends house with a blank CDR, now shouldn't I?

I have received a CD via snail mail that contains a really big collection of FASA to SFC Models. I've put them into a rar file and am now uploading to my personal space on the Star Trek Mod Directory. I've asked to have them placed on the main SFC page of the Mod Directory when the file is fully uploaded.  These models are for all who need them relating to the OP Galaxies at War Mod.  The CD was sent to me by Klingon Fanatic.

I had considered putting them on SFC3 Files. I still may. Uploading big files takes a while, even on DSL. I shall keep you all posted.

Excellent news indeed.

It took some time to gather all this ships and it could not have been done without the efforts of all the SFC community model makers/kitbashes out there that attempted to make these ships for us over the past three years or so. Its not as complete a collection as I hoped but we have certainly got most of the really cool FASA Trek ships represented.

If I may, please, consider [or have somebody] breaking the files into chunks for us 56kers.

Thank you Chris Jones!

Here the current URL for the BIG Zip File with ALL the models!

http://www.stcd.sgnonline.com/~cjones/FASAtoSFC.rar

Can someone with high speed get this and let me know that the rar file is not corrupt and extracts properly.

The 56K versions may have to go somewhere else. Stay Tuned.

HEY KF!

I'm going to put this file on this page..

http://www.stcd.sgnonline.com/sfcmods.htm

Can you write up a description here, so I have accurate information to post there, and could you also direct me to a screenshot of 1 of the ships to include with the file. We'll make this a real big deal for sure!

For 56K - I'll upload the individual folders to 3D Downloads. That way the ships will all automatically fall into thier proper folders and be organized. I'll do this overnight tonight my time, Eastern, and post a link here when it's ready. It might be good to sticky this thread!
