Northampton/Chandley class re-texture
« on: February 27, 2003, 12:54:56 pm »
Saw some buzz about the Chandley/Northampton class, and decided to post a couple of shots of a major re-tex job I just finished a while ago....   This is P-81's Northampton with allmost all new hull textures, except the dish and registration which I blatantly stold from DuctTapeWonder's magnificent Mageullanes.

Yeah, this isn't  canon in the least.  Call it a "variant" or something, but I've never really seen the FASA schematic.

Well, I've seen the FASA Northampton schematic, and your Northampton is a vast improvement. I want this ship bad!! Do you plan to post it?

Yeah Yeah Yeah.....I'm here......btw. DuctTape has 2 T's in it. I've killed for less insults to my godly grey adhesive

Btw Hig......steal all the textures you want off my ships, hey arent mine anyways. I borrowed them from P-81. Besides....Your hull textures are far superior to mine anyways......I tried what you said about making them.....and failed miserably....I guess I'm just a copy/paste kinda guy (hense the name DuctTapeWonder )

But in all seriousness Hig. Your retextures are outstanding. My site isnt about only having my work there to feed my ego. It's about offering the very best in hi-res TMP mods. I would be honored to have your ships be part of the fleet there.

Also.....I'm not hosting the ships there.......Mackie is.......I think I got a good thing going on with my site IMO. I hope to keep it growing. But it is all posible because of Mr. Mackie. So as long as it's ok with him.....I'd like to add them.

Drop me a line when you can Hig, and we'll work out the details.

That's awesome news. Apologies to Ducttapewonder & Mackie. I didn't know that Mackie was hosting Ducttapes site.

Thanks for the kind words guys!  Does anyone have a link to a FASA site?  I've never really bothered to look for one, but a lot of the ships I like seem to have originated there.  Without a "canon" reference site, I'm afraid I've mostly just used my imagination to fill in the blank spots, and most of the registrations and names are certainly incorrect as well, something that perhaps DuctTapeWonder can rectify with his registry skills!

As for hosting, I would be honored if DTW would do that for me, drop me a line sometime and we can work something out.

Also, if anyone has any FASA ships (or any TMP, for that matter) that they would like to see, post a pic or let me know!

Cheers
Hig

Hig,

THE BEST FASA site is here: http://www.sub-odeon.com/stsstcsmua/

EVERYTHING you need is there plus interesting material on how FASA Trek needs a reality check just like the rest of Trek gaming (e.g., Taldren non-cloaking, non-torpedo using, forest-green Klingons).

Please get me ALL of your retextures soon.

Thanks for the link, there's some really  neat stuff there....  Just at a glance, I have a retextured Thufir, Baker and Locknar, and I think I have a bashed version of the Andor with the engineering hull on top.  If you want 'em, I'd be happy to give them to DTW if he's willing to post them...   Or if you have a particular favorite that you'd like re-textured, I'm sort of running out of projects at the moment, though I might do the Constellation in conjunction with DTW some time......

Hi Kf are we going to see a web site with all that information that you've been collecting? Your right about reality check
even the designs need a reality check using cut and paste as opposed to designing from scratch makes you think some ship's bridges are manned only by 2 ft high humanoids if you match the specifications with the designs.  Bad Design practice all over.

Hello HIg
There's no lack of projects out there for a modeler or retexturer for that matter. I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with.

I'll take those! I can't wait for the finished andor. I hope you keep the mapping the same, cuz then I don't need to reconvert the damn thing for BC. Though I guess it wouldn't be a bad thing considering the mesh error on the ends of the nacelles...(well, that or it's the nacelle grille texture ebing somewhere it shouldn't be)

Well, as I say, I only THINK it was an Andor in a previous life.  I think what I have is a kitbash of an Andor....  the nacelles are re-arranged and the engineering hull is on the top.  The break model still looks like an Andor though...  the textures still fit, so if you have the original Andor my textures might work on it.  Do you know where I could find it to D/L?

B.G.,

In another thread you posted about an L24C fix; catch me on MSN or send me an e-mail and I'll get it out to you.

The FASA to SFC collection is still a WIP; One person is working on a Winged Defender, you know somebody will convert P81's Loknar Refit USS Phobos from BC to SFC, I need to collect Hig's ships and Khaliban has a few FASA ships on his to do list too. I figure that by the time Khaliban's FASA Feds roll of the assembly lines it will be time to ship a CD to Chris Jones...

MORE of FASA's TMP  inconsistancies...

I love the Chandley; FASA never paid attention to their own specs... the Chandley had 250 marines, a comparable crew to the Enterprise 1701, more torpedoes, more transporters and equivalent phasers and its a FRIGATE??? I don't think so!!!!!!!!!! Right now I use it as a FCL with Anarion's Churchill as the FCA. Also I have to wonder why didn't they give the D-10 a cloaking device?

Hig,

Where are your Chandley retexture pics?
