ANy interest in a Hydran/Mirak SFC3 MOD?
« on: April 12, 2004, 04:41:23 pm »
As title says.  If so would people prefer TNG or TOS era?  What I had in mind is replaceing the Feds and Klinks with Hydran/Mirak and leaving the Rom Borg slots as is.

If you can implement drones, scatterpacks, wild weasles, ADDs, T-bombs, EW and full fighter wings... then yes!

Well as I recall Star Trek never used drones or t-bombs.  Actually I remember a nazi like planet launching one at the TOS ENT, but don't recall the Feds using one. I'll just do what ever I want then and keep it to myself,  Muhahahaha.
Somewhat seriously though. I wanted to do a TOS mod for SFC3 but I have the last 5 posts in that thread (meaning no one gives a flying hybrid car about it.

I don't recall the Kzin ever being on Star Trek either (or Hydrans, ISC or Lyrans for that matter). I could be wrong, but I thought ADB took the Kzinti from Larry Niven's fiction. I'd be interested to learn if they were mentioned in TOS.

I know I saw Gorn, Klingons, Romulans and Tholians on TOS but I do not recall seeing any other races used in SFB(SFC).

Most of the newer mods for SFC3 already have the Mirak and Hydran ships in them and they are included in one race or another.  Hydran usually is included in the Feds and the Mirak are usually included in the Klingons.  The Hydrans seem to translate better into SFC3, as the Ion Cannon can be used to substitute for the Fusion Cannon.  But no Hellbores.  Fighters can be used (aka: shuttles).  The Mirak dont translate well into SFC3 without drones.  However, giving them alot of 360 arcs on their heavies and primaries translates into firing drones in whatever dirrection they can.  Check out GAW, IslandWars, and Battlezone Mods for some of these additions.

The Kzinti are in the Animated series episode "The Slaver Weapon".  It was Larry Niven's screenplay of his short story, "The Soft Weapon".  TAS rather than TOS, but from the same era.  (TOS and TAS were all that existed when SFB was created.)

TAS, TMP, TnA, and any others that are skulking about in the nether regions in need of illumination.

Now wheres that ointment...

It is when talking non-SFB lingo. If I was just talking to a movie fan that never heard of this game or SFB, TMP would mean The Motion Picture, but in here it means all ST movies from 1 to 6.

Oops!  Sorry about that, Ghostcamel.  I didn't mean to be confusing.  Those abbreviations get used on these forums so much that I employed them without thinking. Acronyms become a (bad) habit after a while.   In any event, those who posted in response to your question above were correct.

TOS = The Original Series (late 60's, with Kirk and company)
TAS = The Animated Series  (early 70's, still with Kirk and company)
TNG = The Next Generation (late 80's, eraly 90's;  with Picard and company)
TnA = Hmmmm.... if you don't know, then watch more Cinimax.  All will be revealed.  (Well, not all, but.... anyway, you'll see.)
