Why does that Name Victoria sound Familier? I know you didn't post much from your post count, But It seems awfully Familier. Did you play on AF's Game along time ago?

I don't think we ever did have a battle. If IIRC, I had done a Deep Strike way behing enemy space with either Thrain of Durin, to set up a few Fed Bases. the nIt seems you and a few others, along with us where Trying to do some hunt and Seek Battles, But never got through to do the Battles.

Man It's been along time. But hey welcome Back. Glad you could make It.

Try to Vamp up to OP, and  Get on the RSDL server. Lot's of the Oldtimers there My friend.

Yea.. Been almost 2 years since I played this game. I need to be trained again.. *sigh*  That is... If I could even install the game. SFC 2 desn't seem to work on Win XP. I haven't tried OP though...

Let me know If you need a copy of OP , That's pretty much where everyone is playing these days, as far as D2.

Do I count as an old timer or am I just old?

It installs, but tells me my Direct X version is not correct, and gives that ' Direct Draw Failed ' message.  I have the newest version, 9.1 or something, but no go.

Have you used "dxdiag" to test the direct draw?

It may not be a SFC related problem.

If you don't know how... go to: START>RUN

Type in "dxdiag"  and press OK

Click over to the 'Display' tab and check the 'direct draw' and 'direct 3d'.

Have you changed video cards lately?

I recently went from a GeForce2 to a 9600XT card and found out thru trial and error that I needed to delete the old GeForce drivers or they would interfere with the video processing.

Hope this helps.

lol.. Well you are only as old as you feel. I am 31 going on 25 myself.

With regards to the game, I don't remember your name, but that means nothing. I am pretty sure I was before your time. I was an SFC addict from it's demo days until it's demise when Mplayer went down. I played for a very short while on GSA afterwards, but it wasn't the same without the leauge, and all the people...

BearSlayer...

I have tested all my drivers for compatability with DX. They all pass. Perhaps it is my video card. I did get a new one. But even before I got the new card, I could never get SFC 2 to work on XP. My video card now is the Radeon 9600 SE. One time I did try going back to Dx 8.0, and then the game worked, but then none of my newer games worked. So I just assumed that since it was an older game, it just wasn't designed for XP.

Well, it is not an XP incompatibility problem.  Many of us are using XP (reluctantly  )

What are your system specs?

LOL... actually, I meant system specs....

Processor, RAM, hard drive space, that stuff.

And are we talking EaW or OP?

Last patch for EaW was 2036.  OP is 2552.

One thing you might try, and that's to install from the CD itself in explorer, rather then from the auto startup.

Just Navigate to your CD rom drive, and look for the setup icon.

Oh and I know you asked somewhere, But FFXI is Final Fantasy Online, It's the Online version of FF.

I just got a new rig, and thus went from WinME to XP. Going from 750mhz to 2.5 ghz made a huge difference!

Then OP would crash upon startup at first, but bypassing the movie by launching off of StarFleetOP did the trick. Everything is working so far.

I remember those KWP days. Hi Victoria!
