FASA to SFC Model Collection sent to Chris Jones
« on: April 10, 2004, 10:12:28 am »
Today I mailed Chris Jones a CD with almost 280 MB worth of TMP FASA Trek models and Related Canon models.

The mod includes a very generous and representative sample of all the non-canon FASA Trek ships I have managed to collect until 4/10/04. Models range from SFC1 'lost' ships to uber-updated SFC2/3 versions by just about anybody who has even attempted a FASA design. I limited the canon ships (and ships that COULD have been in FASA Trek) to about four (4) or less representative models where possible.

There are about a dozen or so unreleased and or WIP FASA Trek ships from various talented model makers that I was not able to get in time for this release.  I have also  learned that Lt. Kevin Riley is working on a FASA Federation Ranger Class refit USS Strider. There are plenty of good things coming off the FASA Trek assembly lines in the near future folks.

Perhaps there could be a FASA to SFC Collection part two in the future that will have the missing ships I am aware of in it.

EXTRA GOODIES:

There are no shiplist specs per say in this mod as everybody has their own opinion about FASA ship classes and their statistics.

However, I did include a sample of Atrahasis' ship specs for about a dozen canon, non-canon and FASA Trek ships. I really don't think Atrahasis would mind as I believe his opinion of the Trek universe is very balance oriented and realistic. It probably needs to be updated but its a GREAT reference source if you want a good idea how to balance these ships from different reference points.

I included Pataflafla's Northampton wallpaper, a few (outdated) Federation, Klingon and Romulan recognition manuals (in XLS format), my list of locations where you could find a good chunk of the ships I have collected and the LWO file of Lt. Kevin Riley's Loknar Refit.

Finally, I have include TAS K'Zinti ships by Brandon Smith as they were written up as FASA Trek ships in the 1980s.

Watch this post for news. Chris Jones will give me a heads up when it gets posted for d/l.

You mean he is going to make a low poly version, as the one hes makeing now is not low poly. But it would be nice if he did make a low poly version.

True. Lt. Riley's USS Strider mesh  is NOT low poly for SFC at this time... As far as I know its not finished yet either. However, he is receptive to having his models converted and I know we can get somebody in this community to bring it home to SFC when it is possible to do so.

As you stated above, UBER-COOL!!

(Note to self= Finish Fabrux, finish Dauntless, DO Klingon 1 wing...)Thought I forgot, right? You're right. I WILL do it...I still have the texture file for the one I was building the 1st time, just have to remember...I see a schematic, or Azel drawing and my mind blanks, and all I want to do is build one. But, I'll remember this time...I wrote it down. Something to start v.2 with.
