Looking for Stargate ships fo OP
« on: April 08, 2004, 09:57:30 pm »
I have had some computer problems, and despite my best efforts, I seem to have lost a few models.  The only ones I have missed so far are several Go'auld ships from Stargate.  There were several motherships, from Ra's in the movie to a great big thing extrapolated from Apophis' super ship, a couple of bases, and a space dock.  I think they were made by Darkdrone, but I'm not entirely certain.  All I know is I can't find them now.  Does anyone know if they are still available somewhere?  Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah, but not well.  Not that they aren't great models, but in OP they aren't lit and there is something wrong with the size, at least with the basic Hatak I tested.  The shields are much too large for the ship.  I could probably fumble around in Milkshape and fix the size issue, maybe, but it's not possible to add illumination in Milkshape, is it?  I'm really not that good at modeling, especially texturing, so it would be better if someone who knows what he's doing, like you, were to convert them.  And maybe make more, like the smaller cargo ships and such, since there needs to be something to put in CL and FF slots.

I didn't include iluminations

I only usesd a Freeware program called CV to convert them

They were scaled in SFC3 perhaps the SFC2 scale is diffrent

I'm not sure I never tryed to figure that out during  the 30 day free trail I had many moons ago

I only converted them from Star Trek: Armada using a freeware program I don't have milkshape or 3Ds Max. All I did was convert the textures to BMP put the model in CV scaled it down to the size of an SFC3 battleship push a button that makes the model accept BMP textures and save it as a .mod.

My modeling skills are extremely extremely limited if they exist at all

CV has difficulty converting fighters and small ships like the Alkesh the models just don't show up right in the game

Light maps and scaling is easy in milkshape.

Damn!  I hope he has them.  Maybe someone else has them and can make them available?  They really were very good.  I'm sorry I didn't say anything earlier; maybe you would have kept them.

Really, I thought Milkshape didn't handle illumination very well.  I'll have to look up some tutorials.  It shouldn't be that difficult to make illumination maps from the original textures, and if I can copy the texture groups somehow, I might be able to figure it out.  The scaling isn't difficult at all, it just depends on why exactly the shields are so out of proportion to the ship.  If there are just some points sticking way out from the rest of the model, that is easy to fix.  I can do basic things, I just don't really understand how it all works.
