Connecting
« on: January 19, 2003, 10:36:16 pm »
Hello Folks:

I seem to have a problem connecting to D3. First let me explain my computer setup. Presently I am using a wireless internet setup. I have a wireless card in my computer, and a friend has the wireless hub/router upstairs. The internet cable runs into his wireless hub/router and I hook up to his hub/router via my wireless card.
Ok, now for my problem
I am able to reach the point where it says
Starting DirectPlay Test Host...
I wait for a minute and a half, then it says unable to find IP address (states my IP address). It will now try to find the other IP address (my friends). It is unable to find that IP address also. Is there anyone that might be able to help?
Thanks
Canadian

You need to read the networking readme file in the docs\help directory.

well, I got exactly the same problem, connection to d3 is working fine till it starts directplay test-host.
I don't have any firewall in use but Connection to the net is made via a second pc and MS-ICS

I also read the readme-but that didn't helped me out since its not even mentioning ICS...
anyone has a solution for that? Thanx !!

try turning off internet connection sharing if it's dial up, if it's cable you will probably have to forward ports as detailed in the read me in the /docs subdirectory.

ok, that helped me out for a moment... turning of ICS and rebooting the machine let's me play on the pc directly connected to the net...  problem is thatīmachine is not ment for playing and i really would like to play on the other machine... Is there any way to play dyna3 WITH ICS ( the game itself says there should be no problem, ironicly when I try to enter dyna3, where it IS a problem...

I have the same problem in regards to connecting to D3, and as of yet have'nt been able to solve the problem. The read me file did'nt help, and have turned off my firewall and other internet security devices with out any luck.  I have seen this problem mentioned alot on the forums, and was wandering how many more ppl out there are having problems connecting to D3?
