is there anyway of removing the storyline?(in EAW)

Would like to be able to play the single player game without the story line in EAW, anyone know how to mod that?

If you explore the program files you'll find that they *did* provide a "conquest" mode for EAW.  I THINK it's in the scripts folder as a text or ini file.  I know I'm not the only one to have seen it help him out here!!!

they include it with the program, but it is prone to making the game unstable.  It would be a far better Idea to go out and get Orion Pirates and play that in an earlier era if you dont want to deal with the X-tech.

But, if still want to give it a try, do the following:
Back-up or delete all your saved games
Go to ...\Starfleet Command II\Assets\Scripts\Campaigns\ConquestBonus
run the PlayBonus.bat (This will replace all the meta campaign files with Conquest Campagins)
Run SFCII and pray that it works...

If SFCII refuses to run in Campaign mode afterwards, you will have to go to the same folder and run the PlayNormal.bat to return the campaigns to normal.  If it refuses to run after that, you will have to reinstall.

Thanks for the info, I'll take your advice and buy a copy of OP.  I tried the batch file you talked about twice, had to reinstall both times.

Another way is to go into the .mct file for the race you want to play and raise the prestige needed to start the campagin to something astronomical like 1,000,000. The campagin will never start and it is stable.

Odd,the batch file always worked properly for me, But then I think I had it expand into a seperate folder than copy and paste it into the scenario folder.

Just go into SFC EAW\Assets\Scripts\Campaigns\Extra and copy all the MCT files and paste them into SFC EAW\Assets\Scripts\Campaigns with the storyline campaigns.. all you need to do then is launch the game and select (Race)Conquest campaign.. and there you have it...

there is also a MetaMap.gf file in SFC EAW\MetaAssets\Server\SinglePlayer that needs to be renamed to Metamap.old and a metamap.War renamed to MetaMap.gf to set all the races to total war mode against each other...

hope that this helps.

P.S.

patch 2013 messed up the Bonus.bat files.. they don't work since that patch on.. it is only a 2 line problem that is easily fixed, but it is not necessary since the game can support 60 separate campaign *.mct files in the Campaign folder.

Actually, i just fixed them and have them up for DL.. this is a zip file containing the PlayBonus.bat and the PlayNormal.bat for EAW.. just unzip them and copy them into Starfleet Command II\Assets\Scripts\Campaigns\ConquestBonus and overwrithe the one's located there...

then just run PlayBonus.bat to install the Conquest Campaigns then run the playnormal.bat to restore the storyline..
