Did these weapons change i the newsest patch or are they just as I remember them to be, you either hit or dont hit, I believe it was only effective at range 0 or something like that, and they do 20 points of damage

Heavy Disruptor damage is printed in the manual. They have the ability to "leak" through shields occasionally. The Heavy Phaser charts are below.

Ph-A

Range: 0-1 2-4 5-6 7-10 11-16 17-20 21-24 25-31 32-40

--------6---4---4---4-----4-----3-----2------0-----0
--------5---4---4---4-----3-----3-----1------0-----0
--------4---4---3---3-----2-----2-----0------0-----0

Ph-B

NOTE: This is damage on bare hull. Against shields it is 1/3 of listed.

Range: 0-1 2-4 5-6 7-10 11-16 17-20 21-24 25-31 32-40

Simply put, the manual is wrong. These numbers were posted by Taldren some time ago and I copied them.

of course the PH-A also takes systems offline for a period of time. Works wonders against plasma chuckers

In your opinion do you think it would be ok to put phaser A or b on galaxy classes, im taking someone advice they gave me a long time ago, because i was beefing about the lack of phaser hardpoints so they said add heavys, but i thought the chnace to hit sucked but if what you said is true, then which do you guys think i should use for fed dreads and battleships

No. They act just like other Phasers, i.e. they degrade over range. They have a D6 for their die roll so they have 6 "slots" for damage in each range bracket. Phasers sweep across their target and at longer ranges they sometimes hit and sometimes miss.

Ya, I didn't know that SFB Phasers "Sweeped" across their target etheir.  For all these years of SFB I wondered why Phasers (and similar weapons) worked this way.  Makes much better sense now.

More range = Less sweeping
