I caught something in this thread about using a naming convention to organize models, so I thought I'd throw  in my two cents worth on this and tell you how I organize models. Every race has a folder and each model folder has a standard naming convention.
  Hull  Author  Name

For instance:
 FCA P81 Enterprise A

For kitbashes:
 FNCA BS-P81 San Jacinto

Or for multliple versions:
 FCA StressPuppy Connie v3

This way I can search each race folder by hull type, author and/or model name.  I just checked and I have 400+ models totaling over 2 gigs. That's just SFC2 models and I don't even collect non-Trek very much! Without some system, I'd never find the one I was looking for.

If someone were to put together a centralized, comprehensive collection of every model out there, I could probably help stock it.
If anyone is looking for a rare model, I've been known to help out. There is a good chance I'll have it.
