Everything about Nemesis seems to be a disaster it seems. It doesn't surprise me they won't make another, as good as TNG was, it never had the appeal to me of Kirk and company.

The Shatner proposal is more interesting, hopefully, it will happen, as the latest rumor is Enterprise will be picked up for at least 12 episodes next year.

I had read about this earlier today. I like the way Shatner Thinks, and Even though he has had Ghost writers for his books, they are very good reads all the same.

I know I would Watch kirk on enterprise any day of the week It chose to air.

UPN has been looking for a ratings hit for years, Kirk would be it.

Shatner still has enough Trek power to boose Enterprise out of last, at least for a few weeks.

If Enterprise had DS9's/First Contact Movie writing staff with the likes Ronald Moore on board then the series most probably would not be in cancellation trouble.   Instead Paramount went with the Voyager writing staff with Brannon Braga.  Now, Ronald Moore and the old DS9 special effects dept. is in competition with Enterprise with the promising re-imagined BSG series.  Personally, BSG has replaced Enterprise as the series for me to watch.  Too bad, I really liked TNG and DS9, kinda tolerated Voyager.  But, Enterprise cannot lay a glove on the old B5 series (I missed most of the first-run Voyager shows cuz I liked B5 better. Only saw Voyager when B5 ended), and probably can't touch the new BSG series.  BSG and Enterprise will  probably compete in this January 2005's network line-ups.  That's assuming Enterprise makes it to the January 2005 show lineup of UPN.

Makes one wonder what about the Activison deal then, as I recall part of the thing was if Paramount kept makeing star trek movies, Activision would make and fund games based on them

Still only rumors on Enterprise's fate.

B-5 blew Voyager away, wasn't even close.

Ditto.

Highest rated Sci-Fi channel == a small fraction of those who watched the original on ABC
every week.

BTW B5 trumps everything but TOS in my book (and TOS vs. B5 would be a good
knock down drag out for me).  The writing in B5 makes the writing in modern Trek
look like a 3rd grade play.

Thanks,

Dave

Quite correct.
And also a reflection of the splintering of the TV market since cable. < 10 channels (actually 4??) then vs 100+ now

Well, to be fair, B-5 was a self-contained storyline, that was planned from the start to go a certain way.

Look at how bad year five of B-5 wasd, as well as the subpar follow on series and TV movies.

Also, dinosaur that I am, I have to mention that year three of ToS was incredibly lame, I doubt anyone would defend episodes like "Spock's Brain."

"Brain and brain, what is brain???"

They still do though on thier chests and shoulders of those jumpsuits.I never saw Capt.Kirk make a pass at women
in Generations but he didn't have chance didn't he it was about one big fight scene.I wonder when some one in
going to recue him out of the hulk of the saucer section of Enterprise D either from the past or present there
a good movie in this to bring Kirk back alive if R. Berman or Paramout want my Ideas they are going to have
get me down there everyone would like this I sure they would just like I thought of Empires ay War as TV
series I have Ideas on that but they would have to get down there(Paramount). It would make a great tv series
        too.

Year 5 of B5, there was a year 5?  Year 5 of B5 would be like telling Peter Jackson he needs to make
a 4th LotR movie and it can't be the Hobbit!  Oh yeah it also needs to be set after the end of RotK.

There were good 3rd season episodes, "The Enterprise Incident" immeidately pops to mind.
There are many more I would put in the good or at least enjoyable category:
http://www.startrek.com/startrek/view/series/TOS/episodes/index.html?season=3
I think people are too willing to dismiss the whole season because of a few bad
apples.  Anyway, just my $0.02, your mileage may vary.

Thanks,

Dave

I would say about a third were good, a third watchable, and a thrid crap from ToS' third season.

Many of them feature a totally over-the-top Shatner hamming it up, like the episode where's he's an Indian, another over-acting fest can be seen in "the Empath," and several other horrible episodes, including the one that rivals "Spaock's Brain"  for stupidity, the great Trek Hippy fest, "The way to eden!"

Yes, but the original airing of the BSG pilot topped the Nielsen's with a 44 share  , the new show was like #17,
if memory serves, of the cable Nielsen's, being beat out by "The Fairly Odd Parents" amongnst others.

Latest SyFy rumor on Enterprise - Season 4 puts the series in the same "12 episodes ordered and then we will see" challenge as the new BSG series:

From Sci-Fi Wire:

UPN will green-light a fourth season of Star Trek: Enterprise, but will only give the struggling SF series a 12-episode commitment, according to a rumor on the SyFy Portal Web site. Citing two sources, SyFy Portal added that Enterprise could earn another 12-episode order if the ratings for the initial dozen episodes merit it.

The site noted that the retooled Enterprise, bolstered by heightened action and the Xindi arc, has performed reasonably well against such stiff competition as the Fox juggernaut American Idol and The WB's popular Smallville. SyFy Portal noted that it was still unclear whether or not longtime Trek executive producers Rick Berman and Brannon Braga would continue to run the show if it does return. A final announcement about the fate of Enterprise is expected within the next two weeks.

Season 3 of TOS has some of my favorite episodes.  Truthfully, I haven't seen a TOS episode yet that I didn't like.

Now I've seen the original Battle Star Galactica series (got the DVDs though there was some problems being able to watch them...finally was able to!) and have to say, that series is AWESOME!

I have not seen the new series, or remake of BSG.

I think we need to support it guys to further the franchise and to come up with new and more exiciting Star Trek series set in the 23C.It would be noce to see the gaps and hole that we didn't see in TOS or TMP.there is a mini movie out called Star Trek Exeter and can be viewed at www.ussexeter.com it might be capititalized.I think this would be a good start to fill in those gaps and holes. We need to keep the franchise alive somehow and it might bring in some fans into the SFC. series wich would get bigger so we must support it even though it is not what we expected it to be.I hope you all continue to watch it there are not in this forum that see it continue a friend of mine wants see that as she is a big Star Trek fan.

Well, hearing that William Shatner may play a role in Enterprise and that he may wright it is an interesting idea.  Actually, this would be an interesting idea if Star Trek was "Re envisioned" much like the new BSG show (which I might add, I really enjoyed the new BSG piliot movie aired a few months ago).  I have been saying from the very beginning that Enterprise should be considered a different Timeline/Universe and that things are different in this reality.  Much like when I play SFC:OP, I think of it as the SFB universe, while I play SFC3 for the Star Trek universe.  Both Timelines have simularites, but both have differences.  We have already see that this expanse thingy is not even in Daniels Timeline and keeps trying too tell archer too change it, we may be already seeing my theory come true.    I doubt it though.  Not sure how William Shatner is going too fit in all this.  Is he going too play Kirk from the 23rd century only in another timeline or something?  Now that would be interesting!

If this was too happen, this might even get Paramont too ease the presure off of ADB about their SFB game system.  With people understanding that SFB is actually a different Timeline/Universe and was  trying too help out the Star Trek crowd with a good tactical board game, maybe then Paramont might negotiate with ADB and Taldren too make a SFB style game, or a "Galaxies At War" SFC as everyone has wanted.  If I recall, Rodenberry was mostly too blaim for ADB's problems.  On second thought... na, this is too much of a pipe dream.

I believe that Stephen is referring to one of the Star Trek novels, which are different animals than the shows or movies. In fact, Kirk was brought back in the novel "The Return" many years ago.

Thanks Blyre, That was Exactly My thoughts.

I was referring to Shatner, and Garfield Stephens also IN those same Novels.

respectfully They follow as ,

The Ashes Of Eden
The Return
Avenger
These three Involve Kirks Return to Life after Being lost in Generations, And A love Intrest Just Prior to His Being lost.

Spectre
Dark Victory
Preserver

This Deals with His New son,And The Mirror Universe, The best of the series so far.

Captains Peril
Captains Blood. Kirks Continuing Relationship with Picard and Crew. The first one Was so so, But I'm waiting to see how He saves the Universe in the Blood.

Sorry for the confusion, and Even though he has Ghost Writers, I believe he could have some Good ideas In the Direction that Enterprise is going.

Thanks for the info, didn't know they brought him back in the novels!

I haven't read a Trek novel in about a decade (marrigae, then a family seemed to cut into my 'mad money' and time it seems!), looks like it's time to hit the used book stores!

 It sounds excellent.

The last Trek novel I read that was 'new' was "Best Destiny," which shows how far behind I am with this.

I really used to enjoy the Kirk era novels, they where the only way to fill in all the so-called 'lost time" when TOS was canceled and TNG had yet to be born, and we only had one movie every two or three years.

Man the good old James Blish days. Ok, I know Blish didn't write that one, But It's about the same time he did the novelizations For ST episodes. Dang I've been reading those books for almost 30 years now. No wonder I can't quote Kantz.

We need to keep the franchise alive somehow and it might bring in some fans into the SFC. series wich would get bigger so we must support it even though it is not what we expected it to be.I hope you all continue to watch it there are not in this forum that see it continue a friend of mine wants see that as she is a big Star Trek fan.

still unclear whether or not longtime Trek executive producers Rick Berman and Brannon Braga would continue to run the show if it does return.

Quite correct.
And also a reflection of the splintering of the TV market since cable. < 10 channels (actually 4??) then vs 100+ now

Yes, but the original airing of the BSG pilot topped the Nielsen's with a 44 share  , the new show was like #17,
if memory serves, of the cable Nielsen's, being beat out by "The Fairly Odd Parents" amongnst others.

I picked the BSG pilot over "The Fairly Odd Parents", but may have picked FOP over Enterprise....
To each his own....
Have you ever seen FOP? Actually pretty funny, my kids love it. The "Arnold" fairy is a riot.

Well have to agree to disagree on the FOP as well .  It just doesn't do anything for me.  Been suffering
through the "Crimson Chin and Cleft the Boy Chin Wonder" as well on Nicktoons (during Pinky and the Brain
and Angry Beavers of course), and don't find it funny, just lame.  Again to each his own and cestel la vie.

Thanks,

Dave

I'd simply get rid of B&B.  Whoever they get to replace them can't do a worse job.

LOL... don't be too sure on our universal disagreement.
I find it funny in small doses. You know: "Daddy, will you watch this with me?"
She's 3. Current attention span = 4 minutes max.
It's not exactly like I hunker down with a big 'ole bowl of popcorn

We certainly agree on B5.

Possible Shatner plot has Kirk arriving to find B&B are the "future boys," and killing them with repeated 'Kirk kicks.'

BTW, I just picked up Captains Blood yesterday. Haven't got to read It yet, But apparently After the Nemesis movie, Spock is assinated on Romulus while still trying to do his Unification thing. Leaving Kirk to come to Romulus as a Civilian.

Sounds interesting.

Come on FFZ it Star Trek, they have gone back in time to repopulate the humpback whale species using a rusty ol' BOP. I would think if they could do that, they could bring Kirk back.

Sorry for the confusion, and Even though he has Ghost Writers, I believe he could have some Good ideas In the Direction that Enterprise is going.

thanks again Blyre.

That's actually one of my Favorite ST books, But then Again, I always liked The idea Of Good ole, George, and Capt. April taking on the Universe.

Man the good old James Blish days. Ok, I know Blish didn't write that one, But It's about the same time he did the novelizations For ST episodes. Dang I've been reading those books for almost 30 years now. No wonder I can't quote Kantz.
