Re-Installation Woes

OK, I know that Activision does the techsupport for  SFC3, but maybe someone knows a quick answer for this:

I was running SFC3 with the old Beta patch that got yanked.

I uninstalled the game last night and re-installed a clean copy of the game from the retail CD.  I was going to apply the new beta patch, but I can't even get the re-install to run.  Now I am getting the error message:

SFC3.exe is not a Win32 application  

What gives?  Is there still something floating around in my registry causing problems?

Any help is appreciated!

Did you go in and manually delete the Activision file after the uninstall?

Yup, that was part of it.  thanks!

Activision also said to uninstall via the control panel and not the start menu.
