Ok, here is my prob. When I try to join a multi skirmish game on game spy for SFC3 and the game gets started up I get suck at the TCP/IP screen and have to exit the game. Now if i host a game I make it to the game setup screen but my name does not appear and I cannot setup the game (change points or game speed or select the type of arena). Then if hit the yes button on the are you ready pannel the game crashes and I get this unhandled exception:

Now I have renstalled the game and looked through files to see if anything is amiss and I could not find anything. I did not have any problems with this before and I don't understand why this is happening now. Someone please help!

Thanks for replying ToastyO. What is the address to the site where the answer to my problem can be answered? I have posted my problem on the gamespy forums and on gamingforums.com in the SFC3 section but have not been able to get the answer I need to fix my problem

. Dont get me wrong, I appreciate the replies I have gotten from this and other forums

well the Kernel is the core of the operating system...
Don't know if the kernel has a problem, or if something in the game is screwy and telling the kernel to do something wrong.

I'd expect the latter, because if the kernel was corrupted you'd have something much more serious than being unable to run one game

Wow. Thanks for the info Praxis, havent had much luck in answers from the other forums I have posted at. Now if I try another cleen reenstall (assuming that the problem is the game is misscommunicating with the kernel) should that fix the problem? Or am I up sh*t creek? And if so is there anything I can do (if it is not the misscomunicaton problem), short of buying another computer, to fix it? I appreciate your help man, thanks!

I don't play SFC3 myself but I searched the D3 forums and found some similar situations to yours but none seem exactly the same: Search D3 Experiences for "kernel32.dll"
Search D3 Experiences for "EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION"
Search D3 Experiences for "Version 1.01 Beta 2 Build 500"

Perhaps it will help if you post your system specs, connection type etc... Maybe someone will be able to tell you what the problem is with a little more info. I'm thinking stuff like a firewall or video drivers maybe?

Don't worry too much about your OS. Virtually every SFC3 crash occurs in kernel32. I would hazard a guess that what causes it to crash is that the kernel has fits when it's told to do something that it can't, like call a model that is mistagged or load one that has a bad .x file (the version of the MOD file that is actually called into the mission).

Wow that defintely seems wrong! I'd reinstall directx, but be careful here
there is some issue with directx and SFC3 - you must use compatible versions.
I think that is what others may have been hinting at. Something about the beta
patch and directx... (bundled in the beta?)

I know there are SFC3 players out there who know which directx version goes with which SFC3 version...

I think it is because I have dx9.0b. It ran fine with 9.0a, but how do I uninstall 9.0b because trying to install 9.0a wont overwrite a newer version of dx. But than again how would dx9.0b affect online skirmish? I can still play the game offline. Hmmmm.......

How come you are Flying Hornets now instead of TomCats.There is nothing wrong with the Tomcats are there?I guess Tom Cruise liked the TomCats because they had Tom in there name being Maverick he was like a TomCat.BTW my nieces husband is on the John C Steiness doing what I don't know classified.

The Tomcat is a forty-something year old design, and it's manufacturer, Grumman, went out of business.

I think some one took over Grumman and they just came out with F14 F I believe and it is the best strike fighter for a carrier.I will check this out more on the web thank for the reply though .

I thought that you would keep the Tomcat around because of its speed considering it can go mach2.4 and the Hornets go
at mach 1.8 even a little slow than the Falcon.I thought that is why the USN would keep the aswell as the phenoix missles guidance system that is good for protecting the carrier which carrier do belong to?

Well speed is not really a factor to the Navy anymore, They are going for maneuverability, electronic countermeasures and electronic jamming, stuff like that. I am not too sure but I think they want all F-14s gone by 2008, don't quote me on this though. Yes the Phoenix missile is an extreme range missile, but it has never been used in combat and the hornet and super hornet have some fairly good ranged missiles. It is a waste of money because the F-14 is the only aircraft that can carry the Phoenix. Well my squadron is attached to the USS Nimitz and before that (when we had the F-14s) we were attached to the USS Enterprise. (kind of cool that I can say that I was apart of the crew of the USS Enterprise.

You are correct there bud. The Navy has "tentative" plans to phase out all of the 14's by 2008. As well as all of the F-18 A-D. Actually how I should say it is that the USMC is getting some of the F18C & D.
Right around that time is when we are supposed to take delivery of our first F35's as well.

Yea I noticed that too about some of the threads, actually it is kind of funny. That kind of thing happens to me allot when I engage in a long conversation with family or friends and then we have to stop and yell "BACKTRACK!" And then we try to figure out what we were originally talking about and how the hell we got off topic, kind of makes for a fun game.

At least with going off topic on threads you can go back and find out how you got off topic

Getting OT, I am bad at that myeslf, but that is kind of one of the things I liked about playing dyna. You know that slow time in a mission where is starts you off and you have to get up to the enemy to engage em. I couldn't tell you how many times we would just chit chat about how our day was etc... You get to meet a lot of cool people. Besides playing the game, that is just another reason why I ordered another copy of SFC2 and OP. gawd I wish I didn't leave those in the states.

That is messed up that someone would take it put of your locker. Bastards.

When you do get another copy. You should play. Dyna is SO cool. Especially when you get the really big campaign going. I usually play Hydran, ISC or Fed. The people are great, even when you lose your ship a couple times.
The mods are great to play too. Just remember that the AI is cake compared to playing other people. And not alot of the tricks that worked with the AI works when you PvP. But you learn some cool new ones.

Yea, computer AI is so incompetent. Someone needs to come out with something more human like, or klingon like,or romulan like, ect. I have just been playing my SFC3 offline since my problem arose, but it just is not the same as playing against other people online, there is just no challenge with the AI's no matter how high you set their skill level and with all legendary crew. Bummer!

That is pretty cool that you can say that atleast you are in The Voyage Home Star Trek 4 they used the USS Ranger in that movie not the Enterprise her self.I guess it is time for a change just like when the Navy used F4 Phatoms quite some time ago.What Type of aircraft are you useing for EW when the the Prowler is gone maybe Grumman will come out with something new they do have long history with Naval Aviation.The Black Aces used to belong on the Nimitz Cag. my nieces husband was on the Nimitz I do have ball cap to the ship I would like another Enterprise hat do they have an e-mail address or what is thier FPO address I would like to see it return back to Alameda in Oakland across from San Francisco that is where the UFP Star Fleet Cammand HQ is .It is nice talking to you I out roger that and watch your six Spade and below you.

Capt. Spade What is the Difference in the E and the F in the Hornets .I don't have anything agiast Hornets Ilike all Naval aircraft not such for Air Force.It is what we you up here aswell I just wish we had carriers we used to but being a small country in population our defence budget is small compared to yours we still have helos though and patrol craft.There is one Marine sqn. that I like it is VFMA 214 yes the Black Sheep what are they useing now last I knew it was the A4 SkyHawk I hope it is the Hornet aswell not the Harrier.Just keep that nose above the hard deck and come soft .

Well the Super Hornet is going to replace the Prowler called the F/A-18Growler and has the same EW pods as the Prowler. The Super Hornet is going to replace the S-3 Viking (Navy air refueling tanker) as well being able to have 4 external fuel tanks and an ARS pod (an external tank with a fuel hose). The Super Hornet is replacing allot. As for getting an Enterprise hat, here you go http://www.soldiercity.com/search_results.asp?new=yes. As for the difference between the E and F models, the E has a single seat cockpit and the F has two seat cockpit. Later man!

VMA-214 was originally commissioned as Marine Fighter Squadron (VMF)-214 early in 1942 at Ewa on the island of Oahu in the Hawaiian Islands. In August of 1943, 27 young men under the leadership of Maj. Gregory "Pappy" Boyington (who was later awarded the Medal of Honor) formed the original "Blacksheep" of VMF-214

What this probably also means is that this will be one of the squadrons that get the USMC version of the F35.

I am glad they went with Lockheed instead of Boeing. Boeing's jet was very hideious looking. The F-35 looks alot like the F-22 with the exception of the engine. Kind of weird that the Navy went with a single engine jet though, if that engine decides to crap, EJECT! EJECT!, BOOM! Damn! now I am a couple inches sorter!

What is going on with the Jolly Rogers that is a Legendary Sqn. from WW2 I think Cammnder Cambell has shot down more than Pappy did in the south Pacific.The F35 doesn't look that bad if we ever get carrier aviation back that is probaly the plane we would use with a smaller carrier up here we all envy you across the border for the Navy you do.I will though when we are up in space we will be on the same ships all united.

Woo,hoo! I finally fixed my problem! It just came to me, maybe another game is causing the problem, so I went through and erased the game I thought was causing the problem and, PRESTO! I can play SFC3 online again! Sweet!

p.s. Activistion was no help, they said it was my computer's drivers causing the problem of not being able to play the game at all. But they could not get it through their head that I COULD PLAY IT OFFLINE as I had said to them many times but they kept insisting it was my computer causing it not to play. The dxdiag said there was a prob on my network tab. Oh well, I will never ask them for help again.

I think some one took over Grumman and they just came out with F14 F I believe and it is the best strike fighter for a carrier.I will check this out more on the web thank for the reply though .

I thought that you would keep the Tomcat around because of its speed considering it can go mach2.4 and the Hornets go
at mach 1.8 even a little slow than the Falcon.I thought that is why the USN would keep the aswell as the phenoix missles guidance system that is good for protecting the carrier which carrier do belong to?

Well speed is not really a factor to the Navy anymore, They are going for maneuverability, electronic countermeasures and electronic jamming, stuff like that. I am not too sure but I think they want all F-14s gone by 2008, don't quote me on this though. Yes the Phoenix missile is an extreme range missile, but it has never been used in combat and the hornet and super hornet have some fairly good ranged missiles. It is a waste of money because the F-14 is the only aircraft that can carry the Phoenix. Well my squadron is attached to the USS Nimitz and before that (when we had the F-14s) we were attached to the USS Enterprise. (kind of cool that I can say that I was apart of the crew of the USS Enterprise.

You are correct there bud. The Navy has "tentative" plans to phase out all of the 14's by 2008. As well as all of the F-18 A-D. Actually how I should say it is that the USMC is getting some of the F18C & D.
Right around that time is when we are supposed to take delivery of our first F35's as well.

Yea I noticed that too about some of the threads, actually it is kind of funny. That kind of thing happens to me allot when I engage in a long conversation with family or friends and then we have to stop and yell "BACKTRACK!" And then we try to figure out what we were originally talking about and how the hell we got off topic, kind of makes for a fun game.

At least with going off topic on threads you can go back and find out how you got off topic

Getting OT, I am bad at that myeslf, but that is kind of one of the things I liked about playing dyna. You know that slow time in a mission where is starts you off and you have to get up to the enemy to engage em. I couldn't tell you how many times we would just chit chat about how our day was etc... You get to meet a lot of cool people. Besides playing the game, that is just another reason why I ordered another copy of SFC2 and OP. gawd I wish I didn't leave those in the states.

That is messed up that someone would take it put of your locker. Bastards.

When you do get another copy. You should play. Dyna is SO cool. Especially when you get the really big campaign going. I usually play Hydran, ISC or Fed. The people are great, even when you lose your ship a couple times.
The mods are great to play too. Just remember that the AI is cake compared to playing other people. And not alot of the tricks that worked with the AI works when you PvP. But you learn some cool new ones.

Yea, computer AI is so incompetent. Someone needs to come out with something more human like, or klingon like,or romulan like, ect. I have just been playing my SFC3 offline since my problem arose, but it just is not the same as playing against other people online, there is just no challenge with the AI's no matter how high you set their skill level and with all legendary crew. Bummer!

That is pretty cool that you can say that atleast you are in The Voyage Home Star Trek 4 they used the USS Ranger in that movie not the Enterprise her self.I guess it is time for a change just like when the Navy used F4 Phatoms quite some time ago.What Type of aircraft are you useing for EW when the the Prowler is gone maybe Grumman will come out with something new they do have long history with Naval Aviation.The Black Aces used to belong on the Nimitz Cag. my nieces husband was on the Nimitz I do have ball cap to the ship I would like another Enterprise hat do they have an e-mail address or what is thier FPO address I would like to see it return back to Alameda in Oakland across from San Francisco that is where the UFP Star Fleet Cammand HQ is .It is nice talking to you I out roger that and watch your six Spade and below you.

Capt. Spade What is the Difference in the E and the F in the Hornets .I don't have anything agiast Hornets Ilike all Naval aircraft not such for Air Force.It is what we you up here aswell I just wish we had carriers we used to but being a small country in population our defence budget is small compared to yours we still have helos though and patrol craft.There is one Marine sqn. that I like it is VFMA 214 yes the Black Sheep what are they useing now last I knew it was the A4 SkyHawk I hope it is the Hornet aswell not the Harrier.Just keep that nose above the hard deck and come soft .

Well the Super Hornet is going to replace the Prowler called the F/A-18Growler and has the same EW pods as the Prowler. The Super Hornet is going to replace the S-3 Viking (Navy air refueling tanker) as well being able to have 4 external fuel tanks and an ARS pod (an external tank with a fuel hose). The Super Hornet is replacing allot. As for getting an Enterprise hat, here you go http://www.soldiercity.com/search_results.asp?new=yes. As for the difference between the E and F models, the E has a single seat cockpit and the F has two seat cockpit. Later man!

Marine Attack Squadron (VMA)-214 is one of four AV-8B Harrier squadrons assigned to Marine Aircraft Group-13, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing. Its mission is to provide close-air support, conduct armed reconnaissance and limited air-defense for Marine expeditionary forces.

VMA-214

VMA-214 was originally commissioned as Marine Fighter Squadron (VMF)-214 early in 1942 at Ewa on the island of Oahu in the Hawaiian Islands. In August of 1943, 27 young men under the leadership of Maj. Gregory "Pappy" Boyington (who was later awarded the Medal of Honor) formed the original "Blacksheep" of VMF-214

What this probably also means is that this will be one of the squadrons that get the USMC version of the F35.

I am glad they went with Lockheed instead of Boeing. Boeing's jet was very hideious looking. The F-35 looks alot like the F-22 with the exception of the engine. Kind of weird that the Navy went with a single engine jet though, if that engine decides to crap, EJECT! EJECT!, BOOM! Damn! now I am a couple inches sorter!

What is going on with the Jolly Rogers that is a Legendary Sqn. from WW2 I think Cammnder Cambell has shot down more than Pappy did in the south Pacific.The F35 doesn't look that bad if we ever get carrier aviation back that is probaly the plane we would use with a smaller carrier up here we all envy you across the border for the Navy you do.I will though when we are up in space we will be on the same ships all united.

Woo,hoo! I finally fixed my problem! It just came to me, maybe another game is causing the problem, so I went through and erased the game I thought was causing the problem and, PRESTO! I can play SFC3 online again! Sweet!

p.s. Activistion was no help, they said it was my computer's drivers causing the problem of not being able to play the game at all. But they could not get it through their head that I COULD PLAY IT OFFLINE as I had said to them many times but they kept insisting it was my computer causing it not to play. The dxdiag said there was a prob on my network tab. Oh well, I will never ask them for help again.
