I'm all set up again

I've finally got Microsoft Visual Studio installed again, and the OP API set up, after I lost everything in a fatal hard drive crash (including all my source code).

Thanks to FireSoul for his build environment, made the process much easier with missing files from the API.

Studies permitting, hopefully I'll have some new missions shortly. Currently, I've only installed the SFC2 OP API, but will be looking to install the SFC3 API as well, once I've done a few OP missions and recreated the ones I lost, including the Doomsday Machine mission.

Good deal, Tracey.

Hey, I read somewhere about data loss with the round cable being a problem. I installed them and haven't had a problem (yet). Have you had any problems with the new cables?

Best,
Jerry

Nope, none at all, in fact I havent had one error reported at all by scan disk yet. The round cables, just as with any IDE cable these days contains the extra 40 ground wires that are supposed to reduce noise from nearby electrical sources. Havent had any problems at all with them and they reduce the clutter inside your computer immensely. The ones I have are Belkin cables, with a metal braiding (like high pressure hoses in a car) sirrounded by UV reactive plastic. I'm guessing the metal shroud probably helps to cut down external electrical noise as well. Their main selling point is the better flow of air through your computer. They're also a lot easier to work with as well. And on top of all that, they look good too... lol.

It is very frustraing.  I lost a drive one day - in fact, I was using it one minute.  Powered down the system, then brought it back up - ZAP!  dead drive controller card.  The drive spun, but that was it.

And I had just finished SEVERAL chapters of work on a story.  I was not in a good mood after that.  And yes, I did have backups, just not from THAT day.

Tracey - sorry to hear about that...  My sympathies.

But very glad to see you up and running again.
