Its superior because it was there, back when Trek was new.

Tho small, the pictures could be useful as a modeling reference - i havent seen to many pics of the topside of the original model.

True. Don't think they ever even showed the topside of the ship during TOS at all!

Um... hmmm... it WAS rare, but I think in "Is There no Truth in Beauty" there might have been a shot close to an overhead shot... or, was there an overhead shot in "Where No Man Has Gone Before"?

Schtupp!

Almost missed your post!  Welcome back, Kotter.

Oh, I was, as I'm sure you know, only joshing... the trouble with trying to model from a Galoob MicroMachine StarTrek minature is that on many if not most, there is warpage in the plastic.  It was a complaint that even Galoob (now Hasbro) noted on their website in those days.

The original TOS Enterprise was one of the worst ones, along with the Enterprise-D, and the one I don't have, but have seen, is by far I think the most warped one (no pun intended) was the limited release Enterprise-A.  The K-D7 was pretty good, though.

I think even you might make a bad model if you used one of those as a template!

Still, I love owning the ones I have... nearly all, except for, what, maybe five to ten ships or less?  Ah, to have those missing ones!

I have a collector's edition of the Micro machines trek ships, it has from TOS:
USS Enterprise
Klingon D-7
Romulan Warbird

From the TOS movies:
USS Reliant
USS Excelsior
Klingon Bird of Pret

From TNG:
Vor'Cha Class attack cruiser
Romulan Warbird
Borg Cube

Never did get around to getting the movie Enterprise, or the TNG Enterprise.

None of them are warped though, the nacelles on the Movie Fed ships were a little bent, but I was able to bend them into the correct postion.

Really?

I bend mine and they go back to their original warped shape!  It's mostly the thin engine pylons.
